Don't get me wrong. I'm pro incest. Makes the plot saucier and everything, besides it's fiction. Not real life. EXCEPT. DEAR GOD. EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS ANNOYS ME.

The brother is meant to be cool. He is not. This is mainly the mangaka's fault since she chooses to portray him in the way that only losers would find him cool. Like the scene when they came out at the opening ceremony trying too look cool and everything. Ugh. That's just lame.

My second complaint is. The girls plays the victim card way too often. The sister is constantly crying and pathetic. Whoever said she's hard working. I question. What has she done that merits her brother's love? She does not try at all. She does nothing for him either.

The biggest problem is the side character, aka the sister's friend. The sister is either dumb or naive to think that she's a good friend. Right off the bat we can see that this friend is using the sister so that she can date the brother. Just because the mangaka keeps reiterating at how sweet and nice she is does not change the fact that all she does is talk about how wonderful that the sister gets the brother's attention and how much she wants to date him so the sister should help him.

This manga is for middle schoolers. I'm too old for this crap.

99% sure they're not related

Like everyone else, I started off thinking that this was going to be about two fully-blood related siblings, but now I'm pretty sure they're not. They start off like every step-sibling "incest (not really)" manga, so this isn't really forbidden love, just love that's not as widely approved of.

Actually, maybe it's not that Yuzuru or Ai is adopted, maybe they could both be kids from a previous marriage. In any case, still not blood-related.

Spoilers on why below:

After Yuzuru said he would date Ai's friend (the most insulting thing he could have done to Ai vs. going for a complete stranger), I could pretty much predict how this is going to go. Yuzuru's friend will realize that Ai likes Yuzuru, be all: "Why don't you date me to get rid of your sadness?" And Ai will date him, but still want to be with Yuzuru. And meanwhile, Yuzuru will feel NTR rage (which he wouldn't have without Ai dating someone else), and be all like: "Why are you dating that guy?" He and his friend will have a divide in their relationship, and meanwhile, Ai's friend may/may not suspect something's going on/weird vibes between Yuzuru and Ai. Then one night/rainy day, when Yuzuru can't take it anymore seeing Ai with his friend, he'll corner her and kiss her again, and make some cryptic remark about loving her which is really obvious to everyone but the naive Ai. Then she'll wonder about it, and then after a while, she'll apologize to his friend and break up with him. But then Yuzuru will have to get rid of Ai's friend. And her friend, by this time probably, will have found out Yuzuru's feelings for Ai and be devastated. She will then blackmail Yuzuru/bully Ai, and Ai won't understand what's going on, she broke up with her boyfriend, why hasn't he split with her friend, blah, blah. Then the next drama hurdle will be their parents finding out about their relationship and being completely against it, saying they never should have moved back in the first place. Then Yuzuru will find out he's adopted (or Ai will) and be all 'SHOKKU' and all weepy mode. And then Ai/Yuzuru (depending on who ISN'T adopted) will go comfort the one that is and be all like: "You'll always be my family, and to prove it, I'll marry you." Then cut to the scene of them getting married. THE END.

The only interesting thing left about this manga is seeing when each of my predictions will come true. It'll probably take awhile because the mangaka spends her 20 pages mostly wasted on expressions and not enough plot. Otherwise, read any other step-sibling love manga to find out what will happen (I suggest Eden no Hana).

Since this will be a by-the-book execution with stereotypical characters (innocent little sister and the perfect, prince-like big brother) I no longer care what happens to these characters.

Must be open minded to appreciate this story

Time and effort has clearly been invested in each page of the manga - these are by far the best drawings I have ever seen. I seem to have developed a crush on Yuzuru myself! You definitely need an open mind and open heart to truly appreciate the art and story. Not everyone can understand the difficulties of Ai and her brother Yuzuru, strictly because it is taboo. However, only Sugiyama can make somthing so wrong feel so right. Do us a favor, and please keep this forbidden story forbidden. I am getting sick of the cliche pretend incest stories.

Sigh... why does this series have so many 1.0 ratings. Anyway, as the title says, it's not incest. Incest is sexual intercourse with someone that is related to you by blood. I just can't imagine Yuzuru and Ai doing that and I don't think the plot will go in that direction, either.

But, it's a good series, it's one of the better ones by the mangaka. Besides, they look good together and just because their other half happened to be your blood-related brother/sister, isn't a reason to dismiss this series. It's so cute.

Also, I'm really picky and the most important elements in a manga to me, is to be character and plot driven, and then nice art. This one passed all three aspects perfectly!! So, give it a go!

Edit1: we all have our own likes and dislike in terms of character and art, don't be so judgemental.
Edit2: the way Ai's mouth is drawn is to show she's stuttering, not speaking clearly, and such when she's speaking, and to show her mouth is shaking when she's crying (a neatly drawn mouth wouldn't make sense if she's crying)

Silly, but I like it anyway

I have to admit, it's a very silly unrealistic manga, but I've always liked brother / sister love stories so I'll take it any way I can get it. Hey, someone has to like this stuff or they wouldn't write it. This type of manga doesn't always end well and I don't like that. I'm the type of person who believes you should be able to do what you want as long as you don't physically harm others, so therefore who you want to love is up to you and no one should be able to tell you otherwise.

When I read this type of manga, I can't help but wonder what kind of parent would split their kids up and not let them see each other or their other parent for 9 or 10 years. How could a mother not try to see her son for 9 years and how could the father not see his daughter as well. If I was a child in this type of family, I would be terribly resentful of this fact alone, but these types of issues never turn up at all. The main characters don't seem to think anything about not seeing their other parents for so long and that's the reason I find it unrealistic.

At this point, the story to go either way. A cute love story or it could turn into a long drawn out festival of emotional pain. Personally, I prefer the cute route,

to me the real issue is execution. the coincidences felt too unnatural and forced. don't get me wrong, the art is beautiful and i love the whole idea of forbidden love. ai is very adorable but sometimes she could be so painfully stupid and way too ditzy. yuzuru is too perfect and unrealistic. the love triangle is cringey and cliche. gave it a 6 because the art was so beautiful (although ai looks more like a baby than a woman)

I am just going to keep it short. Don't have any problem with incest in manga even though in actual shoujo, it is rarely done right in my opinion and i don't think this series has done it right either. The art is really pretty. I love it. I love the art in sensei's previous work "Hana ni Kedamono" but seriously, sensei has a way of writing really annoying heroine... that crying, whining gee man... ignore the incest and just treat it like a normal boy girl story it is still meh.

There just so much frustration going on with the story progression. I am still semi reading it, half the time I think I just browse through the art rather than actually fixating my brain to the dialogue LOL

So yeah, huzzah for the art but for now, meh to the story with or without incest.

A mashup of generic stuff for a blah story.

I love reading incest in manga, but I couldn't read past the first few chapters.

The story is a mashup of everything the mangaka could possibly think of that would draw readers with no originality at all. The brother is like the perfect shoujo prince (corny as heck) and he squeezes out all these cheesy lines like nothing. There's nothing else to him except being the stand-in for main girl's heartthrob. The main girl is (annoyingly) cute, clumsy, and a has a brother complex and she drinks her brother's cheesy lines in like it's nothing. They're in love because, well, the mangaka says they're in love and their love is supposedly stronger than anything. They're siblings, but there's no angst or inner conflict.

I was so excited going into this, but the story gives you nothing! I mean, I even love cliches and the typical stories, but this manga is something my sister would write (she's awful at it) except that this mangaka is a professional and should be able to come up with something just a little better (give the characters some personality if you're just going to rehash an overused plotline!). I feel so bad for shitting on this story because it's seriously not this bad. It's not, really. It's just...a waste of time.

Ai Hate (Oh the irony)

This is the type of heroine that gets on my nerves. Talking and acting like a 5 year old; always crying, acting all cutesy and stuff. God so annoying.

I don't mind the 'incest' part though. It's just manga so I don't really care.
It's similar to Yaoi... reading sth typically considered as taboo keeps readers on their toes, somehow mistaking the sexual tension as the "heart sinking" feeling you get when you see your crush or something.
But If you think about it realistically, this manga is just plain awkward and weird. Getting a boner while thinking about his sister? That's sick. HAHAHA.

The art is too good to ignore so I might stick around till the end.

Pace becomes frustrating after a while

There's tension and build up for the right reason (like internal obstacles or inner demons of the various leads involved) and then there's just plain old love rivals inserted for convenience sake when the main relationship is almost ripe for the picking... Well, after the initial 2 volumes, the story (which I had high hopes for) is starting to go the filler route with a masochistic hero and a self defeating heroine. I don't know, there needs to be more audacious almost-moments to keep me engaged in this story and I'm barely seeing any.

I honestly can't believe how little the mangaka is sliding by on per chapter! COASTING!!! A chapter is basically three sentences said over and over in roundabout ways, everyone's faces (tearstained or restrained) from this angle, that angle and of course the angle which takes up the whole damn page and then there are those seriously infuriating panels which have ONLY TEXT on the whole page. Growl.

Get a move on already! (PS I'm still loving the actual direction, and boy does the brother have his bedroom eyes look down pat. And when he puts on those glasses.... Eee be still my incendiary ovaries!)
