I'm surprised that no one has read/rated or commented on this before. Kaze to tomo ni sarinu is a great manga adaption to Margaret Mitchell's novel "Gone With the Wind", and it's really good. Not only does it stay true to the book, it also manages to have it's very own charm and feeling. I thought that Scarlett particularly was very well portrayed. She is both childish, evil, nasty, egocentric and obsessed and it all shows in her dialogue and thoughts (which were shortened in a very considerate way by Tsukumo) but also her facial expression. All the characters are drawn with a lot of care and you can really feel with them. All in all, I would say that the manga isn't just a great adaption, but a great manga as well.
Even if I hadn't read the novel, I would have appreciated this manga greatly. It fits in seamlessly into the other 70s or 80s shoujo-manga with the one exception that the heroine isn't a blonde.
I was very impressed with this manga, and I really think it should have more attention.
