I really wanted to give this a try because I'm a huge fan of the psychological genre. Unfortunately, this one might label itself as such, but doesn't even come anywhere close to it.
The basic idea here is similar to Incite Mill - lock a bunch of people somewhere, offer them money if they survive psychological assault. The ideas used here so far are extremely simple. Sometimes that is fine - the simple and ordinary can be the scariest, but this mangaka doesn't have the ability to take that simple idea and execute it in a way that makes impact. (For example, having your sight taken away in this atmosphere, in the middle of a bunch of strangers who might kill you for money, is terrifying. The mangaka doesn't even try to set up that terror - she glosses over it and moves on to "happier" things.) There's no tension here, nothing that could inspire the reader to actually feel the terror of seeing humanity's uglier side.
Because of that, I say that Life is Money doesn't really seem to know what it wants to be. The drama/suspense isn't there; the horror/grotesque isn't there; the satire isn't there either. There's only really been five chapters so far - not much room to see improvement, but I would still recommend fans of these genres to steer clear of this one. There are lots of better things to read.
It had potential, It really did, but things went downhill ever since they introduced the dice.
I stopped reading after
The white-haired kid tries to kill the main character and heroine with death metal...Slipknot...I mean really? Is that the BEST the author could come up with?
It's just so stupid that I am at a loss for words.
