Description

Gray, a B-rank adventurer, was supposed to be just a mob character in the RPG "Bright Fantasy". However, by chance, he saved an orphan who was attacked by thugs on the roadside and decided to raise him as his father. But the orphan turned out to be the hero of this world, "Iska". This choice would greatly change the fate of the world.

Honestly, it's a great way to apply an isekai character (the isekai actually matters/means something and the plot is different because of it), and is quite refreshing and wholesome, with several tropes challenged during the plot.

And to add to oliv2079's defense: some kids with single parents feel like their parent won't be available as often if they get a new partner, and often act out as a result. So it's possible that Ariameru is intentionally saying vague things out of a desire to keep potential partners away, not from romantic interest. There could also be a lack of "ick" from her end due to already being 13 when she met the man who would adopt her.

Believe it or not, if the writing improves, we may see her—out of immature behavior—try to cozy up to the main character in a romantic way and end up going through some really painful and embarrassing experiences (to her) as a result of that. Teenagers are quite melodramatic, after all.

Not that I know for certain this won't become Usagi Drop; I couldn't really tell more than what the manga at chapter 15.1 is at. But, so far, nothing indicates that. Hopefully nothing comes of that other than my aforementioned future embarrassing memories of having acted out.

The story, so far, is worth checking out. I won't say the writing is amazing, but it doesn't suck, either. Especially on the attention to detail when it comes to caring for the little ones and how children that young need help with getting dressed and going potty in the middle of the night,

leading to one peeing his pants and that mess needing to be cleaned up (and the little guy needing some emotional support), etcetera.

The character designs are solid and the art is decent.

I disagree with @MissMahina on Ariameru being a love interest

I only read the English version once or twice, but I've read the Japanese version... I dunno, but more than 30 times by now (It's my go-to braincandy). Note: I haven't read the Novel, so I can only give my point of view from the manga.

They don't directly call her mom-like, but they do insinuate that she is a motherly figure... which she is.
They never call her wife-like or whatever.
I don't think the ex-girlfriend saw her as a love-rival. She was more worried about who he had those kids with (including Ariameru).
I never read the brother suggesting that she is crushing on MC or that she was eavesdropping at all. Did you get this from the novel? I was convinced se was embarrassed the next day because she was seen with dishevelled morning hair.

I'll have to read the novel to make sure, but I really, really hope you're wrong. Developing love-interest for the child you're caring for messes up every manga. Thankfully, the mangas that do this are usually cancelled before it happens in the novel. I pray to the manga-gods that Emiria (Ex-girlfriend) will be the love interest or that he, at the very least, just stays a single dad. So far, this has been a great child-care manga. Usually, the child-care aspect is put to the side in favour of plot or romantic development, but this one consistently stays on track. It's not my favourite manga ever, but it's definitely the most re-readable for me. For the love of the manga-god, don't mess this up, I'm begging you

I reaaaallly want to like this, but they keep making weird comments about the 13 YEAR OLD ADOPTED DAUGHTER. The sus: “she looks like a mom more than a big sis” (1 count), “she looks like a wife” (1 count), ex-girlfriend thought she was a love rival on first meeting (1 count), brother suggested that she is crushing on MC after she eavesdropped on MC talking about ex-gf (1 count).

Don’t do this, mangaka-sama. Please don’t go down that road.

Gap moe main character that chops bad people's heads off and raises children. Not much else to say so far other than that as it's only been 4 chapters but it's a cute and fluffy manga with some decapitation on the side.
