There Are... Issues
by LazyReviewer

Overall, the story seems above average with palatable art, a unique enough journey for what it is, and some interesting world building. There are also some flaws that bring it down. If we just want the quality of storytelling, I'll give it a 4.

But there are some massive issues, like how the FL (female lead) basically
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
drugged and raped
the MC (main character) and somehow the fact the inn keeper's wife helped her do it isn't seen as bad. The whole situation is treated nonchalantly.

The story's world has twisted morals, and quite frankly, I'm not sure how much that should weigh in on the score, because while it is fiction, I do feel there is a possibility of someone young and dumb enough reading this and getting the wrong idea. Because I have seen young teens make bad decisions with little reason behind it.

This story comes across as condoning the use of sex as a way to trap a partner, and then proceeds to show the reader it'll all turn out alright. It never does in reality. And again, I do think there is a possibility a young teen basically derails their life after reading this manga, because, as I've mentioned before, young teens don't need a lot of influence to be convinced to do something that dumb. I could name someone I knew (she gave birth before she turned 14).

Now, the biggest in-story flaw is how the main character reacted to the fate of someone and bizarrely blamed himself for it. Imagine someone literally stabs you in the back, and then you blame yourself for them getting jail time for attempted murder. For the sake of preventing spoilers, that's not exactly what happens: what actually happens is significantly more disrespectful to readers' intelligence.

It trys to tell the reader who to blame, and what it blames makes literally no sense. It is some of the most artificially created drama I've read in a story.

These aren't small issues, even if they make up small parts of the story. Feels above average overall, but is below average when you objectively look at what logic the story uses in order to artificially create drama.

You can just tell that a massive plot hole will come in the future if that's what the author is willing to do 22 chapters in.

I expect, if I continue reading, to see this story-only rating drop below 4. Not immediately, but eventually.

I have a thing for trash isekais, or I guess, my addiction for them has gotten revived after I went through study hell for my finals.

I just write this because his comment reminded me of Kaifuku Jutsushi (Redo of Healer) and I wanted to add that this manga isn’t like that. The only “rape” that does frequently happen is the heroine trying to get into the MCs pants. The MC himself doesn’t really rape anyone from how I understood it. He used electric magic to torture the assassin, so she’d give him the info. Not because he was sadistic but because the only person, he somewhat cared about, was killed by the assassins, so he was kind of going nuts there and since he’s OP, probably cannot control his powers. (Note, it did not turn into a revenge isekai here.)

My opinion (Read up to chapter 26)
The start really makes it feel like a classic isekai and it doesn’t sit well with me that the MC never reveals that he used to be an overweight salaryman. That aside, it gets interesting the more you read.
Heroine:
The heroine is somewhat useless but also not really. MC needs to pretty much protect and save her all the time. In return, she serves him at night. It’s different from a typical harem plot, where heroines are actually strong but in love with the MC for no reason. Here you could deem the heroine as smart, understanding that she isn’t strong and thus tries to seduce the strongest man she finds. That makes her “devoted love” more understandable. And then this stuff probably develops into more “grounded love” with each event they experience together. (Near death experiences, twists and turns, etc.) On the other hand, there is also this whole plotline that says that everything was kind of planned by God anyway, so there’s that.

Revenge Isekai?
In chapter 13, the plot turns into a revenge isekai but also not really. It tries to mix those aspects and I’m not sure if I’m just into the concept or if its poor writing. It kept me entertained at least. I.e., MC has this super edge-lord phase, “Must kill everyone” but turns docile after heroine pats him and also makes his enemy kind of treat them nicely afterward (some royal business). If I had to describe this, its like the world of a revenge isekai but a protagonist from a normal isekai. I.e., it does not talk over slavery as if it was nothing, shows the cruel parts of a medieval-based fantasy world but the protagonist that came to this world expected the more game-like, less cruel fantasy world; is confronted with the reality and has to deal with it somehow. I liked that take, or the concept at least. Again, not sure if the execution was poor or not.

Don't know why this has such low ratings, this is more or less your generic fantasy isekai
Also don't read the spoiler part of @superman89 's review, he literally made 4 quite important points up lmao

Trash Can Tier Manga

The manga is starting out just like the novel. Which sometimes it can be good and sometimes it can be bad. Well this time it's bad since the novel is pure and utter garbage.

The MC takes stupidity to a new level with the events that happened just in the beginning. Plus since it's followed suit with the novel so far you can expect more of the first event which was just trash, i.e
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
the girl worked with the inn keeper to drug and rape the MC and MC is perfectly fine with it by marrying her ASAP.

Why do I say that? Well spoilers ahead of what other stupidity to expect.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Later we find out that it was the same god that summoned MC that got the girl to drug and rape him. The god says she a good girl and it took him a while to convince her. Yes, because only good people get others drugged and raped.

Then, in just a few chapters like a total moron, he exposes himself as an OP hero and then runs away from the city. The kingdom sent 30 assassins after him, who are then killed by MC, except for one chick, who MC tortures and brutally rapes for information. Right after this, he goes right back to the city where he escaped from, meets with the king and starts working for the king who tried to kill him.

Not only that, he saw the assassin chick he raped in the slave shop and buys her because he feels responsible that he ruined her life and that was trained as a sex slave. *facepalm*

Next the princess of the kingdom that tried to kill him tries to drug him and rape him as well, which he knowingly almost lets happen all the way through. Then he goes and gets engaged with this princess right after that. The first girl, who he married after she drugged and raped him gets upset because just how is it possible for him to get engaged with a princess who almost drugged and raped him. *facepalm with a brick*

Trash can level story on levels from the characters to the plot so you've been forewarned.
