My preferred arc is the security contest.
You can see that Riichiro was already knowledgeable in cybersecurity or that he made deep research about it.
The python code is realistic, even the libraries used. The ctf website has a typical frontend, and gaku is using ghidra.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Even though they cheated, it was fun because this is based on a real world event and at the end, they were discovered but still get investment.

But after that, it just seems like scams everywhere, they are not creating what they sell. It was still kinda tolerable with the AI, but the mobage will probably make some heavy emotional damage to the development team.

@Twilight_Moon Remember this is a seinen. It must be read as a satire and as a critique of capitalism. I agree it'd be depressing to read it as a shonen, but I don't see why you'd do that 🙂

I think this series would be really good if it was read as a satire. Otherwise, too much of its earnest and try-hard deutertagonists actions would feel too close to what tech giants and capitalists can get away with.

I’ll give it to them that Haru and Gaku are genuinely likeable - and therein lies the problem. It feels incredibly depressing to pitch this in a classic shonen try-hard manner in becoming the richest and formulating a trillion dollar valuation when legitimately things akin to that nature happen without regulation or reason in real life. Like so much of this series feels very grifter and “hustling”, as if we could make this to a more charismatic Elon Musk kinda vibe. I can’t in good conscience root for our heroes when their methods and business acumen is based on fraud. And maybe that is the point of the series is that money is kind of a scam and wealth building is kind of built on nothing.

Depending on your political/financial world view, you may enjoy this a lot more than me and maybe the sheer ridiculousness of it all can be forgiven as a manga. But for me, too much of this series feels like a startup/entrepreneur wet dream with a Machiavellian tech twist.
