5 Volumes (Ongoing)
Oa far, the manga has been unique imo. But only a 1 chapter has been released from what I could find. I cannit find anyhring past chapter 1.3. So i cannot make a solid judgement yet.
(Written from phone; I'll probably proofread for later; will probably have weird autocorrect/word gaps moments)
It's the story of two monster hunters (more like "werewolves hunters" ) traveling through across the world set in a medieval-modern somewhere around 15-17th century (I personally guess 16th century) to make the world "return as it is". (Quote end of chapter 5). By chapter 6, it gets clearer that it is set in the period of "witch hunts", and the background in the cities is reminiscent of rustic medieval period French architectures.
Think of Red Hood (KAWAGUCHI Yuuki) (before the subpar character dump guild admission arc), but with a hand to hand close quarter combatant (regenerative type of immortal) teamed up with a support healer witch. Also, useless detail here, but The author really seems to love tomboys instead of big mommys since they seem to be omnipresent. We have in the first arc the FL (zettai ryoiki) with a stern/Dom personality like Tatsumaki from OPM (but less childish) and the random village girl who both look more or less androgynous like young Allen Walker from D.Gray-Man, and onto the next arc we have a cheery quaint tomboy with big boobs. Tomboys galore.
Choreography (action scenes) is basically about who hits harder. Therr are a few moves inspired by MMA/CQC but they're not that refined nor complex. Nor are there intricate strategies and commentaries. Just super basic punching and dodging.
However... The action lines are clean and the cross hatch style is very cool. It can make up for it if you don't mind the overly simple action sequences.
Plot is an issue doesn't really stand out for other similar series like Fabricant 100 and Red Hood (KAWAGUCHI Yuuki). But it is not at risk of being canceled due to not being a SJ series. It leans heavily on the human experiment + kidnapped villagers + monster transformation motifs, hence why I compared it to the others. Due to these "death" adjacent thematics, it can give off slightly a "Gothic vibe". Another series I know that has similar vibe is Ningyou Kyuutei Gakudan, a shoujo manga so the action is less present than in this series but the vibe is similar due to the overlapping motifs.
Since it is not the most unique in its category, it'll need something MORE punchy. My problem so far is that the main leads are kinda boring in terms of chemistry. We have one cool gal but she's just sitting there lore dumping, and the other guy just hits hard while being away from the girl lead. (Chapter 1-5) he is shown to be compassionate and caring towards kids though.
By chapter 6, we have a clearer image of the dynamics of the 2 leads. The ML is much more of a dork, and has a heart of justice. While Victoria the female lead is much more colder and pragmatic (due to the main cast being pursuited themselves) and makes a point that there's a clear power dynamic. However The ML lets his own conviction get ahead of his boss. What a dork.
