Cause of Abuse

I really love how the author portray one of the cause of abuse. You can tell the abuse was caused by stress in workplace. You can tell he slowly change until the point he breakdown. You also know how he think through his transition and his emotion (For example: the author use jumbled words to show his emotion). This is really detailed in my opinion and can give me enough information and emotion from the abuser.

One more: I am really tired with people who think something is wrong or unrealistic because they compare it with their own country, before you do that, search first the condition in the country the stories was made. Every country have different condition, don't claim something as unrealistic or wrong just because it's different with your country.

I actually didn’t read this first in order. But it very sad how this all started. I actually

Though the way people think, about this being realistic or not up to them. Where I am from, if people didn’t like their job they would surly would do something different then what kan was doing, easy right? The easy and maybe the right way out.

But not everyone is like that. Especially in japan. They know they have to work. They reason they go through that hardships, the reason why the put up with that. Too me, in Japan and for many other people, do have to go through that. And with Kan Chan, he was no different as someone comment down below. And Yumi, being the one to bring up the topic of his job was real enough. However not everything is easy. And this was no different. And seeing it through the eyes of the change of Kan”s heart is what makes it very hard and sad at the same time. And yumi, who kind of tells him to kind of “put up with it” though it not exactly said that way until things really get bad or them just makes it worse, till the point no return when Ken finally reaching that breaking point. While sometimes Yumi kind of knew what was going on with Ken and what he had to work for, the position he was in, (his sister school) and then get upset when kan couldn’t keep his promises kind of annoyed me. And waited a little too late to finally tell him to quit.

It’s a surly sad read. My only problem is I wish all these stories were in one volume so I wouldn’t have to figure out which storyline came from where. But it good to see an insight and better understanding kan back story after read the sequel before this.

i can literally feel how trapped kan-chan is in this oneshot. unfortunately he decided to cope with violence, which yumi doesn't deserve. even though yumi doesn't deserve the treatment, you can feel the distance between him and kan-chan as yumi doesn't seem to bother checking in more with kan-chan as he deteriorates. he's much too lackadaisical, it seems, and it takes a toll on kan-chan. you can see how they don't fit as a couple even though they love each other dearly.

i don't think kan-chan's tolerance of his job isn't realistic at all. to think so speaks of privilege, after all. not everyone can simply leave their job and get a new one, despite the fact that kan-chan was being horribly abused. with his sister depending on him and yumi being a freeter, he is the main breadwinner for two families and it looks like his company is shafting him for overtime. he is likely living paycheck to paycheck and can't even afford a week without a job. this is a reality for many people around the world, sadly, especially societies with especially competitive job markets.

The reason why Kan-Chan didn't quit his job @Meilee123

So, when I first read this oneshot, it made me terribly sad. I came up with the same theory as Meilee and thought that the story wasn't realistic. I mean, anyone would quit their job if they were mistreated to that extent, right?
However, I was going through my posts on facebook one day and a person explained the whole scenario of suicides/overwork in Japan really nicely. Sadly, I can't find the comment but I will just try to write down what I remember.

So basically, in Japan, when you enter a company, you are labelled as 'capable' or 'incapable' within a short period of time and that is what decides your reputation for the years to come. Japanese people don't usually change their job because the company is like a family to them. The company, on the other hand, hires you with hopes of long term investment. If, say, an employee switches their job, they are usually looked down upon in their new workplace. They are perceived as unfaithful and unreliable because they can quit their new company just like they did with the last one, and no one cares about the reason. There are a lot of other factors and you can google that if you are interested. But either way, the life of a normal office worker in Japan is pretty difficult.

Now about the story, this oneshot was a really sad read for me. It shows the painful transition from the innocent life to the adult life. Despite being madly in love once, a person can change depending on the time and situation. Though, there are ways to prevent that, but the characters here decide otherwise. Even though I am sad, I am also happy that both the characters managed to find a more suitable partner for themselves and that they both have stories of their own.

i read everything, all of these stories backwards, but wow i didn't think kan-chan had it this bad, you would think there is still no excuse for his behavior with yumi, but you get to understand better the situation once you see this prequel... Painful, indeed..
