This is a pretty twisty, complicated story that involves lots of relationships and breakups and drama. Some people have complained that the characters are difficult to keep track of, and I admit that it is pretty confusing in the beginning. Other reviewers were annoyed that the characters are flawed, and don't become better people by the end. This is also true, but the uncomfortable ambiguity of the characters and their relationships was one of the things I loved them most about this manga. Amano-sensei doesn't try and make things simple when they aren't. The title of the manga is kind of about that -- life is full of uncomfortable feelings that people have to bear.

Some other thoughts:

* Sometimes I got so frustrated with the characters that I wanted to yell at them. (In a good way; it was a nice kind of frustration)
* All this crazy stuff happens, and you don’t know whether to laugh or cry about it. It’s at the same time lighthearted and pretty dark.
* Character design is just, really good.
* A lot of sex, but not in a graphic way. The sex is for plot purposes.
* The plot weaves around a lot. There’s not one single storyline, more like ever-evolving intertwining storylines.

Overall: Don’t read if you want things to be straightforward and certain. Do read if you like things to be complex and uncertain.

I would have given the this manga an 8 if it hadn't been for the ending (last two chapters).

The feelings we all most endure is a slice of life drama about seven college students who come together to work on a school project. The story explores each of these girls' lives and motivations, and how their working together affects their characters. At least, it tries to. With seven characters being the focus, you'd expect them to be more than just standard cliche's, and see them as people with their good points and flaws. However, that unfortunately, is not the case, and you will remember these characters more for their one note niche's or their negatives rather than anything else. Maasa will be the eccentric stoic wearing weird shirts. Remi will be the playgirl who sleeps with other girls, even if she knows the other girl is emotionally vulnerable and/or currently seeing someone else. Meru is the vain trendy girl, who eats whenever she gets upset. Asuna is the nymphomaniac who can't stop thinking about sex. Fue can't stop falling asleep for more than a few minutes. Sachi you will remember more for her negatives, and Ruki is the story's punching bag.

No meaningful character development occurs. 1. They either continue to act the same way as before, 2. the clingy characters will simply switch to a new person to gain affection and self-validation, 3. characters that were once the victims in a previous bad relationship become the aggressors, and 4. characters trying to become independent instead lose their self-esteem and become unhealthily dependent on their love interest, because love is unreasonable (nothing new in this author works).



By the second half, the story gradually loses any sense of direction. In an attempt to be "realistic", certain characters get engaged in questionable acts and act in detriment to the happy ending that's supposed to be the climax. Instead of the resolution between two certain characters feeling earned, the poor execution and actions of the characters make it weak, forced and even contradictory, and leaves unfortunate implications to their future and an audience alienating message in general. That it's okay to be extremely selfish and hurt the person that cares and loves you, as long as you accept their feelings at the end, and that person will still unconditionally love you, because they are a slave to their feelings (again not new with this author). Imagine if it was guy in place of the one in question in that scene, and the implications become worse.

Also, I can't finish this review without talking about a certain other character: Remi. As said before, she is a playgirl that will sleep with other girls even if they are in other relationships or emotionally vulnerable. She is tied to everything in the story in someway, and is a main catalyst to having two of the girls awaken to their "epiphanies", and had their characters go into a morally questionable direction, and has affected their future relationships in a negative way. What's worse is the she is never called out on any of this, suffer any consequences, and the narrative goes the extra mile to justify her actions, because the other girls' changes were needed to move the story along. Remi is not a character; she is a plot device to move the story created by the author, a Mary Sue of the worst kind.

Generally in stories like this, the characters being flawed is a staple. You're hoping the characters address them in a believable way that matches the main objective. And no one is above being criticized, and subject to have consequences for their actions. The author doesn't do this. Throughout the story, while some major character issues get addressed, and some leave lasting consequences as relationships are broken, others get hand-waved and even get portrayed as necessary for character development. It's inconsistent, as the same rules don't apply to every character. I wouldn't have had much of a problem if this was treated as a bittersweet or even tragic ending, but no, it's portrayed to be a happy one, and the reader is supposed to be happy for all these girls, despite how they got to it.

It's a good read. It's rare to actually come across a good yuri that actually has yuri in it. It's packed with plenty of girls love. The only complaint i have is the story felt unfinished at the end. I didn't really feel confident that the main couple has what it takes to make the long haul. Also, i was disapointed witn the endings of the side characters. The side characters started out with a lot of promise but went stagnent. The main 2 characters grew and changed during the story while the other characters didn't grow at all. Regardless, it's still a good manga.

This story weaves together seven different women who's various backgrounds and personalities are a bit confusing in the beginning but their experiences and development are shown throughout the story and make for great resolutions for each of their subplots. Believable tension, thoughts, and actions are present throughout whether it be from indecision based on jealousy and fear, or long term mental issues that need a steady hand and great willpower to overcome. This is honestly an excellent showing from an artist who usually doesn't get the time and pages needed to make such complex and interesting stories.

Perhaps it seems moreso because of the deceptive art. But yeah, definitely not a 'feel good' manga /understatement.
End of the first chapter kinda had me raeging. (Edit 2: in retrospect, it doesn't anymore when you consider the main character's...character. It's actually empowering.)
That said, it's quite emotive/evocative. Really looking forward to reading more.

This made me check out some of the mangaka's other works. Philosophia is also quite brilliant.

EDIT: It occurs to me I may have sent the wrong message with this comment. This is a great series so far, and I really look forward to more, but it may not be for everyone or what you're looking for at the moment.

Really, one of the reasons I enjoy the average shoujo ai/yuri more than the average straight romance is because there are the intrinsic feelings of insecurity that a homosexual person can feel in this heterosexual world. Of course anyone can feel this to some degree, you can just find it easier here. And I feel that almost all great romances have to focus on insecurities.

But this does it in an entirely different way as well. Characters aren't really insecure as a result of their sexuality. It's....gah i'm having trouble at 3am but it's broader and deeper than that, not even confined to the romance.
