From In.Difference:

Kazuka is your average high school girl with the exception of having an irregular and calm personality. She wakes up one morning slightly later than usual to find a red thread attached to her finger...

I love the way this story is told. The word that comes to my mind when I think about this manga is "art." It's beautiful, poetic, and simplistic. The drawings are amazing, the story is sweet, and it generally impressed me. I'm very happy with this oneshot and I highly recommend it.

I enjoyed reading it. There weren't a bunch of random people getting in the way. It was character driven and cute. There was a happy ending and no emotional roller-coaster. I'll probably read it again after I read a depressing manga.

This is the perfect shoujo one shot.

Kazuka is puzzled when she wakes up one morning to see a red string tied on her finger. Everyone she meets ignores its existence and when she questions them they are completely clueless. The red string leads Kazuka on a direct path towards one of her classmates.

Kazuka and the readers are left to wonder if a fated lover is a romantic ideal or the antithesis of one's will. Does that red string even exist? If it does not, what does that mean for Kazuka and her romance? Is it fate or free will that will lead Kazuka to love?

Very cute. Very sweet. Gives me the warm fuzzies in my stomach.

Muddled meaning

It's cute. The female protagonist seems to take things in stride ("Oh, a red thread. Whelp, off to school!"), but I think she's an acceptably good lead. The guy's nice too. Nothing outstanding here. The red thread thing though. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I guess the mangaka was going for something along the lines of the delicacy of fate or how human initiative is stronger than fate, but it didn't really work for me. Also, maybe I read an incomplete version of this, but the ending seemed really odd and abrupt.
All in all, it's okay. Nothing terrible, but nothing too special.

Fate?

It's an interesting story, and I think addictress' comment below explained it fairly well. When I first read it, it was really quite weird; the strange art style didn't help. But thinking about it again, it's a rather nice idea. The red thread was the push Kazuka needed to bring her closer to Shima, because she's such a calm, matter-of-fact person that only something like "fate" would make her think that it's pre-destined anyway, so she should act on it. What actually keeps them together afterwards is the feelings that she develops while being around him.

This is really nice, people! biggrin So cute and the plot is different from other manga! If you guys love destiny or fate storyline, then this is the best choice for you guys to read! Seriously, it's really great and beautiful. But it's kinda sad that it's only oneshot, wish it's longer. *sadface*

japanese and their red thread

this was a good read.

for those who doesn't know, some japanese have this belief about the "red thread"--fate
it somehow connects you with the person you are fated to be with..
thus, when she saw it connected to the guy, she immediately thinks that she is her fated partner..

i like this story since the main character believes that the red thread (fate) is the one that stirs the wheel of their lives, when really, it's the both of them..

so somehow the idea i got of it was that you decide your own fate..

XD
