This is a very cute manhua with lovely artwork. The MC is crafty and witty. She impersonates a eunuch 99% of the time, so you can think of this series as a thinly veiled BL. Indeed, the emperor has no idea of her true identity, let alone her true gender. So he has to wrestle with beliefs about his own sexuality (very straight) and society's taboos about sex with men-- especially eunuchs. For a bit of context, eunuchs in ancient China were loathed. They were viewed as dirty and corrupt, and the downfall of countless emperors are blamed on eunuchs. This is going to lead the ML to do things that will offend some readers. Trigger warnings for violence. In imperial China, beatings and snuffing eunuchs out were a common thing. They cut off dudes' wangs, so what do you expect? (Not excusing it, just explaining ML motivation.) Anyways I'm making this manhua to be a lot darker than it actually is.
There's an abrupt happy ending, but it cuts out a lot of stuff from the novel. So there's a plot hole in the manhua. And the ending is somewhat incomplete. There's no kiss or wedding. I ended up reading the book, which I enjoyed very much. See above for title of the book.
