Description
From Yen Press:

Everyone knows about the story of Scheherazade and her wonderful tales of the Arabian nights. For one thousand and one nights, she entertained the mad Sultan with the adventures of Aladdin, Ali Baba, Sinbad, genies, and many other mystical creatures. But what if Scheherazade was actually a boy desperate to save his sister’s life? What kind of strange things would he do to make sure that he survives to tell the tale? This new twist on one of the greatest classical folk tales just might keep you awake for another One Thousand and One Nights.

i just gotta know....why in the world did the author include stories that have modern elements in a manhwa taking place in old times? like one of the stories had cars/guns/suicide bombers when the setting is the time of the crusades. it made me do a double take and disrupted the flow of the manga in my opinion. also the story about the woo guy was a bit long and boring for my taste.

other than that the stories were interesting and the characters are all likable and cute! i really appreciate the maturity of the main character.

Fell in love with the stories

The stories told by Sehara were much more interesting than the original story. Although, I still prefer this over the original story where the King killed 1000 girls before he stopped. (Based on wiki, I haven't actually read the original book). My favourite one is probably the very first story Sehara told the Sultan.

I'd rate it higher but I just don't feel the connection between the two main characters. I felt like they were lumped together and forced to form a kindred spirit with each other.

The beginning...

This was an enjoyable book with good characters, not great, but good. I still haven't forgiven the main guy for just killing all those innocent girls the beginning. I found all the 'folk tales' to be enjoyable and connect well with the actually storyline. I also liked how the author added their own twist to the tales. Overall, it was a little messy but very entertaining. Loved the drawings towards the end.

I like this version of One Thousand and one nights better... This manwha not only has beautiful art, but also nicely woven stories. Although the stories themselves are not historically accurate, each tale adds a new aspect to the central story surrounding the tyrannical ruler and the story teller (who is a bishounen in this story).

Either way, I love how this manwha turned out and i wasn't disappointed.
This is my first and only boys love manga that have read; so I'm not 100% sure how to grasp my head around it. Artistry very beautiful. Although I can understand the feelings towards the characters.. Not being a man it's hard to understand the pleasure they feel in the smut scenes. I love the lengthy tales.. It's what keeps the story fresh and exciting. I wish the smith scenes were better detailed.
[a king goes mad from heartbreak and starts killing woman after sleeping with them.. One ends up being a man. He saves his own life by the stories he told and also gained the heart of the king. They go to war against the Christians.. They are separated by the sultans brothers betrayal. It was fixed in the end.. The sultan loses his title by a false word of his death. He then goes on an adventure to find the man he loves..
well done story

This was a really good story. I didn't know what to expect when I started reading it but it was well worth reading. The characters were interesting and the character development you see is well done. The main love story is slow and a bit angsty but that's what made it great. The events that build are sequenced well and the pacing fits. I couldn't put it down and I have a hard time finishing long mangas. Just keep three things in mind:
1) It is a manhwa so the reading direction and style are different but you figure it out pretty fast.
2) It's long. 11 volumes long so it might take some time to read it.
3) No, the stories aren't realistic or historically accurate. They're romanticized and changed to make a point. So if you're looking for a textbook or non-fiction book to read, look elsewhere. Just like the main story, they're fictional stories with fictional characters, plot, and settings. They are read and told for fun, not to be politically correct.

History (not a very accurate one at that), fairy tales (distorted) or shonen-ai? The main story would be down to around 3-4 volumes if it were not for the misrepresented side stories. One or two at the beginning were ok, but then I got started getting annoyed having to read all the other stuff. I would have preferred that more detail would have been added to the real plot-line instead of the stories, which were supposedly "lessons" for the listeners. Even in the final volume, almost as if to fill space to make it to a full volume, there was a story.
Credit, where it's due; the main plot was interesting, the characters engaging, the art good.

First off: The art of this Manhwa was very good, I always have to appreciate that. The overall storyline also entwined nicely with the stories told by the slightly altered Sheherazade. I was actually quite sceptical at first, since 1001 nights is one of thouse stories, that I have just had enough of. It was wrapped up really nicely in this case though, so i can definitely recommend it.

where to start

One snowy night, when I was sick with desperation and starvation after something to read, I stumbled into this wonderful manhwa with very high ratings and so-so coverart. Me, being the gullible person I am, decided to read this purely basing it on the ratings. I thought "Oh come on, bakas ratings isn't always non-accurrate and exaggerated. Let's give it a shot". Well...and so I did.

I've been disappointed before, but this one,...wow it takes the price. Not because the story is bad, but because of all the ignorance I had to read in 11 (?) volumes.

First and foremost, I can't believe that an author/mangaka/whatever decides to write or do something, without getting her facts straight? Half of the things that is written in this manhwa is NOT true and some of it gives a wrong impression about muslims, greeks, and basically the whole world. I sincerley hope, for everybodys good, that no one use this as a Historical wikipedia. Because if he/she/it did, it would probably be the end of the World. Not exaggerating.

The potratition of the story is so-so, unfortunatly not my cup of tea because I felt that it lacked something essential to make it good. Read it if you like, but don't expect much.
