I often see this one on download sites but i often ignored it for a lot of reasons. First, reading a lot of manga then switching to manhwa is kind of hard. bearable but a pain in the arse 😛 Second it is so darn long [and maybe i prioritized Ze that time, dunno 😛 ] and third, i thought it would just be a waste of time. Boy, was i wrong. I downloaded this one and i was really amazed by it! I've only read the first two volumes but i can see that the mangaka should be given an award or something! To instill a BL in a story that has been loved by many is genius. ~well maybe because i have a memory of watching the film with the same title so i fell somehow nostalgic so i am BIASED but hey, you wouldn't see stories like this nowadays because most of the mangaka seems to circle on cliche stories.

anyway this is good read! long but it is good.

i love it!! even though i naturally dont read yaoi stuff.. i like this one.. coz aside from their story he also tells other stories like stories within a story!!! there are also a lot of bishies... haizz cant help but sigh...

but there's only one problem.. the chapters seem to skip... like on the first night he didn't finish the story.. i know that based on the book she doesn't really finish her stories but is that really it?? to someone who owns the manwha pls reply!!!

this is such a beautiful manga... i hope that the scanlators can find it in their hearts to work on this beautiful manga!!! ^ _ ^

i just finished reading this!! i kindda have low hopes from all the bad reviews here saying that it had wasted potential and it just didnt made sense that its had stories that shows the present time and so on and so forth.. but you know what? I DONT CARE! it was awesome and pretty and sweet and it reminded me of salvation which was clearly what the authors wanted and it tells the story of stories and it was like all the things that i am passionate about put into one exotic, sexy, bite sized temptation.. addicting. it had 2 hot guys, pretty girls, history, sadness, happiness- just you know-feeelings!, action, drama, world literature and culture.. so awesome!! and the end it was just. omigawd it left me with the same scream my happiness reaction when i first read it. never gets old.

It threw me out of the loop when the anachronisms came in. I ended criticizing the absurdity of the actions of the soldiers with the war on, not sure if it was, Iraq (if that's what the author meant with Ms. Desert Fox--can you imagine having that sort of hair in the desert?). And then the supernatural element came in--threw me out of loop, too.

And oh dear god, the sultan's story in the last volume was very, very painful to read (and no I do not mean angst or tragedy) and though I'd read it laughing at some points, it clearly broke the pacing of the story overall.

That aside, the stories do jerk with your emotions, they were heartfelt, and there are some very good sentiments that the author successfully pushed on the readers (hopefully). I do wish the central story had a longer airtime, since it really was that interesting, even if it was just the last volume. It's a definite must-read for readers who like reinterpretations of history, folklore and fairy tales, or those who like good short stories in general.

Reading some of other people comments, I find that I can't agree with some of them.

At first, I was confused when it jumped to the sidestory and the main story. But I got used to the flow and I enjoyed them both. It also made me reread the story to nail down what was really happening whenever I get confused. A good trick from the artist and author to get us to reread stuff.

The uke and seme might seem unrealistic for some commenters, but I think the character development really explains their action, even if some people don't want to believe it.

But then again, it might be the matter of taste. I got hook onto this story because I like stories that are like twisted fairytales and the sidestory in the first volume got me hooked.

Shahyrar (how do you pronounce that anyway...?) said it for me when he complained that Sehara's stories were all tragic love stories... since I don't like angst, the story in this title is a bit heavy for me, but still quite well told. Volume 7 threw me for a loop with the anachronism, but otherwise I'm just willing to go with the flow and let Sehara tell his story, if only to see what Shahyrar's reaction to it will be. After all, the format is really similar to the original 1001 nights, so why should we complain?

[update] Coming back to this after quite a while... and having read Volume 9... I must add that the little we get of the main story in each volume is frustrating. It's just enough to awaken your interest, but not nearly enough to whet your appetite. The side stories do have a point to them, but right now I rather wish I could have more of the main story instead. The suspense is killing me!

i love it both the main story as the side chapters. Both are really well drawn with an engaging story to back it up. All the fairy tales, myths and legends you heard are getting a second chance in these books

First off, I'm not really into shounen ai. I usually avoid them unless I run out of yaoi no matter how good or how popular it is. Though I gotta say, the plot for most shounen ai are better than yaoi's.
Now back to one thousand and one nights. I don't know the original story and I did not plan to read it cause I'm not really into classics. But don't misjudge this. This is simply an amusing master piece with great plot, character development and art. The main story is simply addicting and you just wanna know what happens next. The mystery behind each character, or how the relationships will turn out to be. The stories within the story are just touching. Really great stories that just leave your heart pounding. There's some twists in the main plot that leave your jaw open. The whole story is an emotional roller coaster.
Overall, do not miss this manga. Do not judge it by its cover or how the story begins. Continue reading. You won't regret it.
Also one more thing, this manga isn't just BL love. There's normal romance going on as well.

I loved it! It's so interesting, Don't be put out by it being 11 volumes long, they go super fast and you will be wanting more - They end up feeling super short >.<
I recommend it 120% I want more <3
This one is going in my most favorite mangas list ;D

this is like reading basara. how the hell im gonna invest any emotion on the male romantic lead when hes a friggin monster? i will try again when this kind of thing dont effect me, but seriously, just because you are a hotshot doesnt mean you can behead anyone you want.
