Description

She decides to while away the hours by sleeping, but getting a good night’s rest turns out to be a lot of work! She begins by fashioning a DIY pillow out of the fur of her Teddy Demon guards and an “air mattress” from the magical Shield of the Wind. The princess’s hapless demonic guards soon discover that their captive expects to be treated like, well, a princess. Things go from bad to worse, for her captors, when some of Princess Syalis’s schemes end in her untimely, if temporary, demise and she chooses the Forbidden Grimoire for her bedtime reading.

This is a cute story with a wide cast of characters, good humor, nice art, and creative worldbuilding. The chapters are about 10 pages each, so it's perfect for reading a handful on the go and you don't need to remember much from one chapter to the next unless it's a longer story arc (though those tend to be fairly short, too). The core cast is actually fairly varied and extensive, and with so many chapters available, many episodic characters pop back in.

That being said, this manga isn't really bingeable — which is understandable: we're already 300+ chapters in, so things are bound to feel repetitive and meandering sometimes. In spite of this, I do enjoy the small moments sprinkled in where Princess Suya shows more empathy and understanding than is the norm for the gag-like plots. Since it's mostly a lightheared gag manga, I wouldn't say there's a lot of obvious character development happening, but characters do develop along the way and don't remain one-note.

It works as a weekly short read to see the princess' shenanigans, but becomes repetitive if marathoned through in 1 sitting... I got bored after reading 20 chapters in one go.

main character
the princess is not a damsel in distress. I believe she's the main villain of the story, cuz she can defeat anyone (with her position as a hostage that should not be harmed) and super vicious when ot comes to get her beauty sleep. and also cutely innocent most of the time. you just cannot hate her despite everything

so the poor demons are just trying to bring balance to the game like world, where they have to kidnap the princess so the hero would go in an adventure to save her, thus fulfilling the game

Yep, it's a good manga that I'd recommend to anyone with a sense of humor. This princess just wants to sleep well and will not care at all as to what lengths she has to go to achieve it. This sounds like it'd get boring quickly, but the author is good enough to think up new stuff to ensure it's still amusing even after well over 80 chapters.

When I say she's willing to do anything, I mean anything. Killing, pillaging, anything you can think of and more. She's also damn strong and keeps on escaping no matter how many times they try to hinder her from doing so. As the story goes along, it seems she's the one holding them hostage rather than the other way around and all the demons seemingly starts to think of her as their daughter, haha.

By the way, the universe this story is set in is kinda special, it's a truly rpg-ish setting, people can be resurrected by priests so no matter how many times the mc kills demons, they will come back quickly. She also has a habit of dying in her quest for good sleep and getting resurrected, like sleeping on top of a fluffy poisonous mushroom or going into eternal sleep by slipping into lava(although it's not really eternal since she's resurrected in a short time). The demon king and company aren't actually trying to really conquer the world, it seems more like they're having a blast playing off the typical rpg-like situation, for example, they're not going all out against the hero at all. They're actually trying to help him along and modify things so that he can keep on going, even going to the extent of giving the hero items in chests. If not for them, he'd be dead long ago, haha. Well, the princess keeps on screwing up their hard work, pillaging the items that are supposed to go to the hero or demons and more.

If I had to complain about something, it's the notes we get from the translater. The translation is actually quite good, but the notes are annoying, it's a copy-paste message every chapter about his situation and how he wants donations because of it. Something like that is enough to reduce my enjoyment a fair bit and break my immersion. I get he wants help, nothing wrong with that, but putting the notes in EVERY chapter is just too much, putting them in once every five chapters and preferably in a jpg file rather than inside the chapter so that you have to see it while reading would be way better. Maybe I shouldn't complain since I get to read for free, but it's distracting nonetheless. It's not as if they go away when you pay anyway.

It's great—just as extra fine as the initial concept and the working out of it over multiple chapters. Almost no gag manga I've ever read has gone to anything like this length in drawing the panels. There's elegance in almost every line shown in it.

Don't be misled: the cute princess of this series is quite the monster. In her pursuit of comfy, she is literally ruthless. It's quite funny though. Wrote a more detailed review on the series, linked below. I quite like this thing. It's something else.

this is one funny manga the fear these demons have for the princess and the cruelty the princess will commit just for a good night sleep... If your looking for a light hearted manga will lots of laughs I highly recommend this manga.
