I have a question for you all:
What do you think is the point where a person becomes a "hardcore/rabid yaoi/yuri fan"?
In terms of becoming a hardcore yaoi fan, a very wise person once told me it's when you evaluate a guy's hotness based on how good he would look making out with another guy.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's the point of no return.
Other opinions on the matter?

You made it~*-*
I'll just quote myself from the convo, too lazy to rephrase as well.
When you pair up your seemingly straight brother with all his friends and write hardcore fics with them as your subject. Fics which are critically acclaimed by others...
And when I say hardcore I just mean NC-17 and no toys!...

Due to lack of time: A quote from myself:
lol
Don't we all do that though?
I've stopped being able to see male friends as just "friends"...
lol. I'm always rooting for something more interesting.
And when I see the words "brave friendship" I instantly think:
"gay? +_+"

I guess seeing yaoi pairings in almost every manga/anime/game/movie/TV show, etc including hentai as long as there's more than one male (well, I've heard that if there's no more than one male then one of the girls can be imagined as male, truely terrible) is still NOT enough to make one a hardcore yaoi fan.
Seeing them in real life and wanting to become a male and participate is.
Then they will write fanfic on themselves.

Anything.

What about imagining yourself being male and gay and having an orgy with the said "straight" brother and his friends? Isn't that even more hardcore? Hands down to anyone who does that.

Maybe to violate your boyfriend (or just a male) with a dildo just like you saw in some yaoi the other day (seriously hoping he will become addicted to this).

Ne, Base I don't think I'd go that far.
Though the orgy gives me a great idea for a new fic...

Well, it was just one example of how one might be considered a hardcore yaoi fan.
Yuri fans, feel free to participate too. The idea for this thread started in a yaoi conversation, which is why a lot of the yaoi fangirls have already commented, but we're curious what makes a hardcore yuri fan too.
Anyway, I would guess that you can consider yourself a hardcore yaoi fan if you can't look at a cute guy without wondering what face he would make if another guy.... yeah, you know where I'm going with that thought.
Or how long it would take until he (secretly) began to enjoy it.

HEAR, HEAR. I feel the same sentiment.
Especially since my brother is 11. And shota isn't exactly my style.

Yes, yes, I agree. I'd like to hear some yuri-directed opinions too.
I'll edit the first post and make it a broader topic.

I don't think dreaming [as in sleep-dreaming, not day dreaming] about either raping or being raped by some friends [who happen to be girls/closest friends/people who know that you love yaoi] means that you've crossed the yuri line.
Neither does instantly thinking that your early 20-something substitute teacher is gay because you happened to see his waist when he stretched and his shirt lifted a tiny bit.
I swear on my sister's life [not that it's worth anything] that I'm not [as] crazy. [as you might think]

I'm a yuri fan. I always thought I was a pretty hardcore one too, but if the line is at the same place for yuri as it is yaoi, after reading this topic I'm not so sure anymore (though I'd still guess I probably am).
I'll occasionally have dreams (and a lot of vivid daydreams, but that's more controlled I suppose) that are yuri-flavored, some where I have taken the part of one of the girls. If I see two hot girls sitting together isolated from anyone else, I'll often assume they're a couple, and maybe think about it in perverse ways. I also have considered my sister with her friends, but not really at the length some of you yaoi fans apparently have with your brothers.
Really, my yuri craze stays pretty much to media for the most part. I can't watch an anime or read a manga or play a video game without looking for potential pairings between the girls (and if there aren't any I can lose interest). I've written yuri fanfiction. I have almost 12 gigabytes of yuri related material on my computer (yuri/shoujo-ai manga, yuri hentai manga, hentai anime with decent yuri scenes) and well over 25 gigabytes if you count if you count the Japanese lesbian AVs I have saved as well.

Ne, it's the same. Just add some hot guy/guy smexing and some fun toys. All set. And hey it's not our fault our brothers give us these ideas.
Pffft. It's not like he knows that I write those fics about him...but I guess that's the bad part...
