What's the best comedy manga you've ever read? As in, the one that made you laugh the most? biggrin

I mostly read really dreary stuff, so I can't be very helpful. But I'm hoping that you'll tell me the names of some amusing titles. That way, I can start reading comedy manga as well...

When recommending a manga, please include the following details:

1) Title.

2) Genre (whether it's shounen or yaoi or whatever).

3) Reason (i.e. why you think this is the funniest manga).

That's it! Fire away!

Well, I don't select manga to read for comedy, but if it has it its fine. i.e. I don't look for it.
However, I am finding Yakitate! Japan very funny!
It is listed as shounen, comedy, action
And, well, its all about Bread!!!

I second Yakitate! Japan, very silly and funny (and you might learn a thing or two about baking bread, too).

My favorite manga is Yotsubato!. It's, hmmmmm seinen I guess?? Clean silly fun through the eyes of a rather odd 6-year-old girl, her family, and her neighbors.

violinist of hameln. it's Action Adventure Comedy Drama Fantasy Shounen . i thought i would die more then once from laughing so hard. im not lying once i just couldnt stop laughing i started choking on my own spit and almost fainted. i got thank my bro for saving me. anyways people should take the warnings in the description. but what i really like about it is that at high tension moments a random gag is placed in that places me into fits of laughter.

Gokusen and GTO both have some very funny moments, though neither is purely comedy (and they're actually not very alike, regardless of some descriptions you may read, aside from having unconventional teachers as main characters).

Gokusen is listed as "action, comedy, drama, josei" (I'd add "school life") and GTO is "comedy, ecchi, school life, shounen" (I'd add "action").

I don't read many purely funny manga (because I can't find many that I actually think are that funny), but most of the manga I do read has elements of comedy. biggrin

"My Name is Zushio".......He's a mentally impaired "immortal" prince trying to get back the throne that was stripped from him....and now to see his disguise as he is trying to "avoid" unnecessary attention.....
Spoiler (highlight to view)

Well, this is just going to sound like I'm picking fights here but...

I've read 2 volumes of Yakitate! Japan and despite it all the critical acclaim, the rewards it has received, and whatnot, it is just not funny. That side-kick kid, Kyousuke, is just annoying! The story would benefit greatly if he died-off.

Angel Densetsu is highly enjoyable, but... I would hardly call it the funniest. This is a manga I read for its great characters and fights that focus on realism over showing-off. An exception to the great cast of characters is also the biggest comedic foul-up of this manga. The American family introduced in volume 13 or so, the father from it is a walking poop-joke (nothing clever about him) and is an unfunny, irredeemable piece of human garbage. That isn't to say the manga isn't funny, it just isn't the funniest.

Yotsubato!....Uh, actually that is the funniest manga ever. Printed joy. Not a negative emotion anywhere near this manga, just pure unadulterated joy.

Midori no Hibi (Comedy, Romance, School Life, Shounen) would be my other funniest manga. Yeah, it is random humor, chapter after chapter of randomness (admittedly highly varied humor), but I'll be dammed if I don't love it. It also gets points for lovable characters, which make it more fun to laugh. (don't judge this by its anime, it sucked)
