Woman always wanted equality, and they should have it. Not that I think woman weren't equal before.

But now, it's total double standard, if it's me up against another woman for a posistion in a male dominated field, the job usually goes to the woman.

I'm not saying woman aren't qualified for that position, but the one that applied with me clearly wasn't as qualified as me.

So I'm saying are we as a society so focused on "woman's rights" that men are being discriminated against?

Uhh.... I'm pretty sure men and women are pretty equal today...
Of course there are always going to be individuals with sexist views, but that's not the main population.

I don't think our society is focused on women's rights at all nowadays. That was a long time ago. Like... mid-1800s to early-1900s. Men have never been discriminated against. U.S. history. none

buddy, alot of ...*ahem* "women" are going to shoot you down for not being politicaly correct.
I understand were you're coming from though. If sociaty wants equality then it should do so full heartedly. Long ago men had more rights but not anymore. We are in a fair sociaty, i would say. However i think alot of feminists are taking things too far...

Example 1: A mother and a kid tresspass a mans property. See him naked in his kitchen. Call the police and have the man arrested for indecent exposure. (by the way this has actually happend.)

Example 2: I tresspass a property. See a women naked and say "damn!?!". She calls the cops...And guess who gets arrested for peeping?

As you can see. That does not sound fair does it? Sure equality is good but we are passing by the key points of equality. Women have a few perks because we are physycally different after all, however its alittle biast in terms of law bounds.

i think there is double standards for men and women i mean if a girl hits a guy you can't do anything because you would get in trouble for hitting her even though she hit you i'm not saying it's right to hit a girl cause it's not another example is if a male teacher is in a relationship with a female student he gets a harsher punishment but if it's a female teacher and a male student then she usually gets a slap on the wrist see my point.

There'll never be true equality unless we start eliminating genders altogether (probably if bisexuality gets popular or major enough that'll happen), but in this modern world there is going to be HEAVY sexism either way. Sexual harassment for one thing is a heavily woman dominated world. Most guys don't accuse a woman of sexual harassment or rape because face it, the guy would be bashed on for it.

In the workplace though, there tends to be heavy sexism towards jobs or careers. If you're talking about waiter/waitresses, waitresses are a lot more common by far, including fields in nursing, secretarial, or receptionist. Skills trade on the other hand such as electrician, plumber, etc are heavily male dominated. Although quite sexist, there is a reason behind this hiring bias:

1) for customer oriented jobs, a woman is more appealing to look at and is often more accommodating and kind towards customers. In terms of health care, patients often feel safer when they are in the hands of a female nurse (but not a female doctor?)

2) for skills related jobs, it was typically a male dominated world and because of that it is believed that men are simply better at the job. Whether it is a genetic thing, or whether it is a social thing, in the end boys are raised to like cars and this bias in environments is going to push them towards mechanics.

Ultimately, a lot of the sexism that exists starts from how the people are raised, because while genders are supposedly equal, it's still the girly thing to play with dolls and the guy thing to play with hot wheels.

Quick question concerning this^:
How do you know that she wasn't as qualified as you?

I want to know too. roll eyes

Edit--
By the way, the plural form of "woman" is "women." roll

same room interview. What you think I just assumed?

Let me put it to you this way, shortly after this I got another interview and was hired at a bigger company.

BTW I'm in computer programming, so it's really easy to tell how good someone is.

Besides it's just an example, not the defining moment.

Maybe she slept with him I don't know confused

That happens a lot here.

Society started being feminist on industrial era. It was kind of cool and all... But society today is TOO feminist.

Women have advantage in almost everything and because of men itself and other women. At least the beautiful ones have advantage.

A girlfriend of mine was trying a job, she speaks 3 deferents languages! She was perfect for the job, but they hired a girl who barely speaks her mother language! Just because she was pretty.

Well, you know, the world is like this because of idiot ppl (men AND women) drag the world to shit.

This is a REALLY WRONG way of view things, stop watching tv. The true is that MEN suffer MORE sexual abuse them women. More boys suffer sexual harassment, and inside prison there is ALOT sexual abuse. What you are saying is probably some feminist media shit.

Silence, everyone.
This will only end up in a bad manner
and butthurt.
World is full of bullshit.
The only way to reach perfect equality is
when everybody just stops giving a shit.
And that will never happen, since someone
is always claiming that they have too little and
they want more, thus they take something that
someone else wants. Just like 2 kids fighting
for 1 toy.

I TOTALLY AGREE.
Despite being a woman I feel like "Womans Rights" have gone too far and really been the source of my unhappiness in relationships. Womans rights killed the gentleman and the idea of modesty. The idea of "freedom" for little things has resulted in a lawless society. Manners don't exist anymore. Courtesy doens't exist anymore. Respect for elders? Gone. It's as if by getting rid of one form of social control we lose all of them.

And I hate the looks I get when I tell people I would love to be a stay at home mom. They think I'm an idiot. Especially my feminist friends. roll eyes

I think for your personal problem, I think you need to chill. You may not have been the right fit for the company. You may be looking too far into things.
