Mhmm.

Actually, I've been doing screentones and inking for the longest time. >>

By computer, I mean.

Cause see, I used to be scared of colouring [CG]. XD So I always used to be "OKAY, I'M GOING TO CG!"

I got the inking done, but at the time I didn't have a tablet, so inking basically took me a day. ^^; After I was done inking in that one day, I didn't come back the next day to colour the picture. I always started something new.

So after I got my tablet, I had a BUNCH of inked sketches [50 to 70 I think?] I never coloured. XD I'm like a, one-day person. >>

So after I started colouring, it took me less time to ink with my tablet. ^^; So one day, I was going through my documents and came across my old inking sketches. So I thought "It be a shame to just let these old sketches die".

I didn't like to ink old stuff [I preferred doing stuff with my current art style, since it made my art look better with a better drawing. I wasn't an egomaniac, but I wanted an ego boost... XD]. So one bored day, I started working on screentones. ^^;

Well, I did over 75% of those sketches with screentones. And over the months, I think I did pretty well. XD And improved.

....I can't post anything without making it long... -_-

WELL, THE POINT IS, I CAN INK AND SCREENTONE WELL. >>

I am probably going under a pseudonym. XD I don't like to publish my stuff under my real name. ^^; PLUS, I've always wanted to "have" a Japanese name. ;_;

Just like I published my one book under a pseudonym.

Hmm.. Well you don't necessarily have to do the Japanese wording by yourself right? You could hire a translator, or work with a Japanese mangaka... With a translator.... Or an assistant... Who works as a translator..

Ok, so basically, you can get a translator. An authentic Japanese would probably be able to word things in a more "Japanese" way if you know what I mean. One less problem to worry about as well. (Erm.... No offense to your japanese skillsconfused Sorry, I'm just giving mindless suggestions. laugh )

The manga sounds interesting except the dad who sounds like a complete jerk. Why would he even apply for custody if he's just gonna treat her like crap? It doesn't make sense to me... Is it part of some secret plot which you will reveal later on in the manga? eek

At any rate, good luck with it!

A part of me wants to meet you in person so I can flick your forehead but that wouldn't get my point across. My point is this, if you want to improve your japanese writing and speaking, I would advise you try to work with a translator or you may say or write something that'll piss someone off to no ends.

Also, give us a taste of the manga, maybe giving us avid manga readers a "test run" of your manga could help improve more than just your artwork but also your storyline. Frell, consider us as your "test subjects" if you want. I'm wanting to read it already because no mangaka really covers goths well.

So what do you say? Mind giving us a taste?

Sincerely,
SG

I'm not planning to start drawings or anything major too soon, I still have my studies. ^^; And I'm still in High School. xP And no offense taken, my Japanese skills aren't that great, but I'm learning. 8D <3

And sorry, I can't say anything on that subject without spoiling / giving details away ahead of time. >_> But if you read the last paragraph in my plot summary, you might find something relating to that. 8D

*saintguardian The test run sounds really interesting. :3 <3 I might do like, a few pages. Unfortunately, it'll have to wait till later on. Maybe after my 1st semester is over. ^_^; I have no time these days. I could probably get sketches done in a short amount of time [my paneling isn't that great, but it's not horrible >_> I can manage], but the inking, screentone, and whatnot take a crapload of time. x__x;

I'ts not really "goth". Well, it is, sorta. More like... mysterious, dark, depressive, etc etc. Gah, I dunno how to explain. >__> But...yea.

*cough*

I agree with xxept0. The dad part sounds completely ridiculous, unless he got some kind of stipend or some kind of money for it? Abuse such as that isn't exactly something I personally would want to read about or sympathize with, so I'd have to say I'd probably skip it unless I was bored or a friend made me because it was so good.

Mmm! >) Drawing manga is always a nice hobby,

(Tried it multiple times, but never ceases to get past the first page. XD too lazy to draw) Still have my little "plots" inside my head >D

I agree on the test run part. Always great to see how it'll start out. Just a note though, don't make up too many questions in the story, you'll end up with alot of plot holes biggrin

I'm intrigued about this being published while in high school thing! I won't try to wring a title or penname out of you, but may I ask what what sort of book it is? Target demographic? Page count? ...ISBN...?

*shifty eyes*

<.<
>.>

Anyway, the only thing that struck me as odd about your plot is the crazy bullying/harrassment, which admittedly, is in a lot of manga, and it bothers me there as well. Has anyone actually encountered the types of vicious bullying you usually see in manga, because I always wonder how bullying can get that bad, and nobody does anything about it. Maybe I just went to really wimpy schools?

I think it might only be THAT bad in Japan...though my Japanese friend seemed pretty serious when I told her my "secret" and she told me, matter-of-factly, if I didn't buy her clothes she wouldn't keep my "secret" (which wasn't even a secret at all...it was the fact that I like porn). I can't imagine the idea of the "hair cutting" thing EVER happen outside of Japan. The worst that's ever happened to me or I've ever seen at school were name calling and trying to make someone feel like an outcast by having everyone around a certain person but that person sign their yearbooks and even that was pathetic. roll eyes

I'm actually a little surprised people don't consider this type of bullying to be real. I have seen some pretty harsh hazing, cruel antics, and down-right beatings in schools. Maybe things have changed since I finished grade schools three years ago, but kids were harassed on a daily basis. Maybe it depends on where you grow up.

Putting that aside, I can't find myself too interested in this manga. This description leaves me feeling it lacks substance. First and foremost the father's sudden reappearance and motive. Aside from that the reason for her mother's death, what role does this "goth" character play in all this, and what set's aside the protagonist from other mangas of similar nature? Why is she being bullied? How is she adapting (and speaking/reading) in a new country? How is she trying to resolve her constant abuse? You also mention the older brother, but do not mention what he has to with the story. I realize it's not easy to come up with a short description to convey all aspects of a story, but from what there is I can't say it is something I would pick up if I was browsing through a large selection.

P.S.
I stopped where it said to, so idk if these questions are answered later.

Well, now that you mention it, I have heard of such things...I guess I take what I said back. An online friend of mine described such things happening, but it never happened at my schools. So it probably does have a ton to do with where people grew up.
