Nana blows away all josei....king of joseis, or maybe queen of joseis would work better...

I'd vote for Hyakki Yakoushou. It's truely a classic. I wish there will be more thought provoking josei titles like that around.

I second Hyakki Yakoushou . An excellent mix of Japanese mythology and folklore accompanied by a great story and characters. I like the fact that this manga shows that josei is not exclusive to romance, drama or female-lead characters but, like seinen, covers a wide array of genres.

I second kimi wa petto as one of the best josei out there, and a close second for me is nana. I'm also quite fond of it's not like that darling because of the funny elements

I really enjoy the Josei from SAKURAZAWA Erica, they're very simplistic with their themes, and she makes her point across very strongly but there is still something utterly breathtaking about them. The tenshi ones I like a lot.
