Yes, all the time. Sometimes a story can genuinely take a long time to be told properly, but dragging seems to be a common phenomenon in manga. It's at the point where I generally stray from series over, I don't know, 8 volumes or so in length. Naturally there are exceptions, but something is never better purely by virtue of length.

NightSwan also said that she wanted to peg me, once, but I'm not sure whether to take that as a compliment or a threat...

Yes. Quite often actually.
It's pretty much like reading
an essay that never gets to the
point. I just scrap it.

Sometimes. If I really enjoy it then I won't.

It depends, I have series that I'm reading which span over 10 volumes but are still really interesting and have me hooked but if I get bored I usually drop it. After all reading is a hobby, it's suppose to be entertaining so there's no point in reading something you don't like. The only exceptions are Inuyasha, Naruto and Bleach because, despite getting bored of them a while ago, I find myself unwilling to drop them justr because after hundreds of chapters I want to know how the thing ends. Luckily Inuyasha's already ended (in a very predictable fashion) and hopefully Bleach and Naruto won't draw it out much longrer now. I did start reading those 3 years ago though and once upon a time actually liked them, if I started reading them now I doubt I would have gotten so far.

nope I like loong sloow stories XD it gives better development, so I think it's worth the wait.
however if it develops badly then I'll probably hate as much as i would've loved it.

Rarely.
I followed Hajime no Ippo for oh so many years, and I'm still following it. But then again, I don't feel like it droned on. I usually don't get into anything that would be worth scrapping anyway.

All the time... it has to be really good to keep me interested.

Just because it's long doesn't actually mean it has good plot or character development.... great examples are all those crappy Adachi manga and Death Note dead (sorry, purely personal opinion)

Having said that, I must admit I tend to prefer shorter series over longer ones.

I have found that with animes, not mangas so much. I usually do alot of study on mangas via internet and friends scince i buy them and dont want to waste money. But animes i watch online so it can be a hit or miss allot of times roll eyes

Your spiffing XD

I know exactly what you mean with Bleach. I skipped a few chapters because nothing interesting was happening, just fights with minor characters that I just don't care about XD

I had to treck through Bleach. It was like walking against a current. Slow development and lots of chapters that could have been scapped and not made much difference to the plot.

I've done it with a couple of others as well. Especially ones that just repeat the same storyline but in different situation for about 20 chapters. Nah I just cba to waste my time.

My favorites mangas are the longest... so, NO, that never occurred to me. smile wink grin

Truth to be told, the best stories takes time to develop and makes the characters grow, or - I rather say - blossom... so I like those stories with 20 Volumes or more... bigrazz

You have to agree with me when you think about:

Hana Yori Dango
MARS
Hanazakari no Kimitachi e
Tokyo Crazy Paradise
Fruits Basket

and so on...

It might not happen this with shounen mangas because they're all about kick, punch, beat, win, bla, bla, bla... embarrassed The plot drags on and on over repetitive stuff, so it get's boring soon.
I don't like shounen! Ho-ho-ho! dead
They seems to babble over the same things: power, win, defeat the evil and these stupid things. Oh, and women with big breasts! They always fight over women with big breasts! biggrin
