Elfen Lied. Also, maybe Deep Love: Ayu no Monogatari and the spin-offs.
Good luck!

I would recommend the Umineko no Naku koro ni series because it really changed my outlook on the world and I started thinking in a less obstructed and oblivious way because of it. Read it and you'll know what I'm talking about. I'll warn you that it is a horror genre but its definitely an eye-opener. Another manga I would suggest is Love so Life. It's more of a sentimental manga, I guess, in a way that makes you treasure life a little more. One more manga that I would suggest is Sket Dance. (Yes, yes viewers, I know that they are just in high school.) If you don't really like a lot of comedy, I'll give you the chapters/arcs that really got to me: 42 to 44 (Switch Off!), 57 to 62 (Ogress), and 81 to 90 (One Guy's Quiet Day Off, Happy Birthday and, Happy ReBirthday.) The last arc was a real tear-jerker for me since I realized how much my life could have turned out like the Bossun's (protagonist) since I am.......... as if I'm going to tell you, it'll just ruin it. bigrazz

Altough you have already a LOT of suggestion, I can't stop myself from saying Tokyo Babylon by CLAMP.
It really teached me a lot about how people have no right to judge other people's suffering and the such. And it's kinda shonen-ai. I say kinda because that part of the story is really angsty, but still really good. I don't want to spoil you, that part is like the total climax of this manga.
The sequel is X
(Also, the artwork. MY GOD, the artwork. Well, it is CLAMP)

Gunslinger Girl is the only manga who moved me to tears, so try it if you can.

I'll name some that I personally love and think you might like. Some series that comes are mind are:

Watashitachi no Shiawase na Jikan
Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou - The beginning of this series is pretty funny and silly, but it does have a serious plotline.
Mars
Diamond Head
Mekakushi no Kuni
Fruits Basket

Happy reading~

Mademoiselle Butterfly was a beautiful manga. It made me cry a bit. The ending was so beautiful and well put together.

I strongly suggest Kimi wa Pet i finished it a couple days ago and i still cant forget about it. The main theme about it is the female lead Sumire chan appears to be strong on the outside but is weak on the inside. Its well written, i personally love the art and i just cant hate any of the characters. I couldnt put it down. it left such a deep impression on me.

And i just have to suggest Dengeki Daisy. Its just so cute and the female lead is so spunky.

Quote from Suzumi
I second this. Probably the only manga I have cried to.

I think you might like Ame Nimo Mayuwanai. It's a oneshot, but very good. It's a shounen-ai, but it's more realistic than most. The ending is extremely sad, and sure to make anyone cry, though I think the beginning is kinda slow.

Since im a sucker for plots with no real line between good and evil. I second whoever said Immortal Rain , its one of those rare mangas where it shows you how much gray there is between "good and evil".you just cant hate the bad guy in it. It will change the way you think of people for sure smile it did for me.and you should also try Superior Or Half Life.
