Thrash metal is heavy metal music that evolved out of hardcore and the new wave of british heavy metal (to be specific). Bands like Sepultura, Megadeth, Slayer, and the most popular metal band, Metallica.
Different from hardcore punk, thrashcore and metalcore, but similar

Anything that has a catchy beat or melody. Mostly some kind of rock (except for screamo, metal, etc) and some rap and hip hop. I mostly like American music, though I do know some good bands form UK, Germany, and Japan

Is Metallica Thrash metal? Now, that's news to me.

I'll listen to more or less anything. From Venetian Snares to Big&Rich; from Primal Fear to Danielson; from The Pharcyde to Pearl Jam--and every act in between.
Unless it's crappy. I don't listen to bad music. Music that's good at what it does? Sure. Terrible music? No. Mediocre music? No. Only the good stuff. And there's a lot of good stuff out there. That said, my exposure is limited primarily to English speaking groups. I only really listen to two non-English acts: Sigur Ros (Iceland), and The Cherry Coke$ (Japan).

I'm a sucker for OSTs - if I enjoyed watching (playing) it; I get the OST. Instramentals are the best as I'm not fond of singing. Though I'll listen to a guy's voice over a girl's.

J-rock (though I'm pretty picky here), metal, industrial, other stuff (I fail at classifying), a bit of tehno/ambiental when there's nothing else good around (think parties, my tastes aren't too fit for a party )

Jazz is my first choice, cuz it's part of what i grew up on, then R&B, then rap. Can't be club rap like soulja boy, D4L, young joc, dj unk or anyone who sounds like these no talent losers. I go for mostly the "older stuff", the "true" hip hop. But i dont limit myself to just these 3 genres, i love me some funk, g-funk, soul, and all related too i like some rock bands too and maybe 2 or 3 female country artists as well
I pretty much listen to anything that i can tell just sounds good. If i dont like a song within the first 10-12 seconds (yes i can tell that quickly) then i probably won't like it, although there have been a few exceptions. The only things i really cant stand are screamo rock (with heavy screaming or unintelligible BS) or classical
