It is VERY different from the book...
It's still really good though.
Just saying that it's such a vast departure from the book that it's like watching something barely related lol.
I'm going with some friends this Saturday after moving to my new apartment, i had been re-reading the book to better notice the differences.

did you see it in regular old 2D or go see the super special 3D version?
Sarcasm just doesn't work over the internet.

Watched 3D HFR today. Was enjoyable, a good musical score, great effects and great CG. Worth watching. Some people were butt-devastated by HFR because they should be watching westerners for the shitty frames or stroke their VHS collection against their nipples. Haven't read the book but a friend said the beginning was nothing like the book.
So i watched it with some friends, earlier than what i though, and it was amazing, we all loved it. It really was different from the book, but that really was't of concern, overall it was a good movie.

I loved it
they did change a couple of things for the movie but...they kind of had to if they wanted to make more than one movie
and they change quite alot in the lotr movie trilogy too so its silly to complain about that here and not with the other movies
freeman as bilbo is just awesome, casting him as bilbo was the smartest move ever
the movie looks awesome
it is funny
and very entertaining
IMO this is the best Tolkien movie

Watched a pirated version a couple days ago on the internet (missed out on some of the better CGI, but whatever). Not too bad, but it seemed like non-stop fighting. One battle would end and another would immediately start. Fights are good and all, but they packed so much within this first movie. I hope it can keeps it's momentum. Never read the book, though.
-No longer do I quote great scholars, the famous, etc. Kids feigning wisdom ruined it.
--I wont type a post like a college report. If you don't read it just for that reason, you don't have to post why your hoity-toity ass refused to. I swear, so many people on this site are so full of themselves. A lot seem to think they always have an "intelligent and/or logical" point or show signs of a superiority complex. They never admit they're wrong. Maybe partially, but excuses abound! :\
-Stop mailing me about my comments. I don't read them.

The ending took me by surprise, I expected to see the whole story but my friend told me they're splitting it into three parts. Gotta milk it somehow I guess. Still, it was an alright movie.

Next year. It will cover from Beorn to the death of Smaug.
