The second screen really isn't a hassle or anything. It's just like watching a minimap in most games. (and in most games it's just used for a minimap, lol.) The starting games were a little scarce though, but being able to play an assassin's creed game was really nice for me.

Developer 1: "UGH, a touch screen... what are we supposed to do with this?"

Developer 2: "Minimap."

Developer 3: "Or we could come up with something innovative, like... a gimmicky mini-game?"

Developer 1: "Minimap."

If it's mostly being used for minimaps, it's underutilised and in my opinion a waste of space and manufacturing costs. Of course two screens, one being a touch screen, sometimes works well on DS, but that's because the two screens are right next to each other so you can look at both at the same time.

I like the conventional controllers because you know where all the buttons are and get tactile feedback, and you never need to look down at the controller. Touch screens have a number of disadvantages in my opinion and I'd rather they not be used with gaming unless the primary screen/monitor you're using is touch screen - so phones, tablets etc - and even then, it bugs me that your hand obscures the screen when you go to touch it, there's no tactile feedback and skin oils get everywhere. Remains to be seen how useful the PS4 controller's new touch sensitive bit will be, but I doubt it will have many good uses either and it makes the controller look weird. I haven't heard anyone say a good thing about Vita's touch sensitive back either.

There's only a few games currently so I don't really know. I know they did great things with Batman and the theme park name who's name I forgot did amazing things. If the developers are not creative enough that is their problem. All of your so called disadvantages are mostly just opinion and that's fine, but I have never had any such problems.

Personally, my new favourite is the gem that GameTrailers' Geoff Keighley got of off MS's Don Mattrick. Geoff even tried to give him a way out of the massively stupid stament, but Don just kept on rolling.

"Fortunately, we have a product for people who aren't able to get some form of connectivity," he said. "It's called Xbox 360.

"If you have zero access to the internet, that is an offline device."

I mean, really? That is pretty much the same as saying "Go buy a PS4." The interview was done somewhere pre-E3, but it was released afterwards.

1: I own a 3DS but am looking to buy a PS4 and a Wii U. I haven't really seen the need to buy the WiiU yet, but with the upcoming games they've shown, I'm starting to feel the urge rising. I bought the Wii for Donkey Kong Country Returns, and I can easily see myself buying the WiiU for it's sequel too.
2: I believe the PS4 won.
I think once Nintendo release some of the games they've been hinting at they'll do better. I don't think they'll be the "It" console (they've not been the it console since the SNES), but I think it'll have enough exclusives because of Nintendo franchises, such as Smash Bros. and Donkey Kong, and developer games, example: Bayonetta 2, to warrant it being many people's secondary console.
3: The Dark Sorcerer, Assassin's Creed IV, Bayonetta 2 (didn't play the first one, but it looked awesome. I hope to get it sometime soon), Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, Final Fantasy XV, Kingdom Hearts III, Knack, Watch_Dogs, Wolfenstein: The New Order, among others. I can't remember the names of all the games I'd like to get my hands on.
4: I wish Nintendo would have given us something more to go on, but it really felt like they were just at E3 for posterity's sake. They have Nintendo Direct, now, and since they know gaming news outlits will follow it, they don't really need to do huge press conferences like Sony and Microsoft do. However, as a fan of theirs, it felt underwhelming and rather boring in hindsight.

Well I don't usually watch things like E3, but I have been following up on some of the stuff that interest me..

1. Are you planning to invest in/do you already own one of the next gen consoles, and which one? (Wii U, PS4, Xbox One, Vita or 3DS)
I'd buy the Wii U just for Super Smash. For real. But other than that I'd probably wait until someone tries selling their PS4 up on craigslist or something cause I'm brokeeee..

2. Who do you think will "win" this generation? Do you think the Wii U will continue its disappointing sales and be unable to replicate the Wii's success?
PS4. Just because I was never a fan of the XBox. Their controllers were always too weird for me and I could never get the hang of any Halo games.

3. Which games/trailers/demos from E3 have excited you so far?
Super Smash Bros, Kingdom Hearts 3, Final Fantasy XV

4. What have been the disappointments of E3 for you?
Don't know what's been going on with E3, but I've been reading some speculation articles and people have been saying they might take Ike off the roster for Super Smash! That's like my favorite character.. How rude!

Getting the PS4 if I'm ever getting one of the next gen consoles. Been with Xbox for quite some time now, but they've lost me with the One. Also getting a 3ds to give pokemans another chance.
Oh yeah, and Wii U for...Bayonetta 2... though that's still up in the air. Maybe if I have the money to spend :\

PS4, easily.

3. Which games/trailers/demos from E3 have excited you so far?
Bayonetta 2, Beyond two souls, Halo 5 (though I'm most likely just gonna play that at my friend's), FFXV, Saints Row IV

4. What have been the disappointments of E3 for you?

How the PS4 looks laugh
The Xbox One already disappointed me with their announcements pre-E3 so that doesn't count.

I was a little disappointed with it too. Still, I like it more than the Xbox One. In my opinion the PS4 is more stylish - the Xbox One is just a rather plain-looking box, and according to the comparison images I've seen, the PS4 is a lot more compact than the Xbox One, which is one thing I was worried about, since the original PS3 was a monster. The PS4 seems to have skipped the ugly bulky phase of the original PS3 and gone straight to a slimmer look that reminds me more of the PS2 or PS3 redesigns.

This is the image I've seen going around of size comparisons. (Too wide for MU and can't be bothered to resize right now.)

The dimensions of the new consoles haven't been given officially but apparently some people on the internet worked it out from the disc drive slot and USB ports. Some have called bullshit on this image (saying the disc slot in the PS4 is way smaller than the other consoles - but apparently the disc slot ends right next to the USB ports, not at the line between shiny and matte on the top as you might expect) and at some other speculative comparison images circulating the net but it's certainly not as big as the Xbox One. Everything must be crammed in very efficiently to be that small.

In any case, I caved and bought a 3DS XL today since a friend was torturing me by talking about the new Animal Crossing and then I found a good deal on a bundle. As much as I am biased towards Sony, 3DS clearly wins in the clash of the handhelds.

Let's be honest though, judging from history, there's definitely gonna be a PS4 slim xD

Oh, and another game I surprisingly forgot to mention is Witcher 3! So upgrading my pc to be able to play that on top settings! cool

I'll definitely get the PS4, but I'm done buying the fat version, I'll wait for the slimmer this time around. Just thinking about all those fat ps systems that I have/had makes me feel old...

Well, Microsoft have changed their minds about Xbox One DRM. Some gamers are still pledging to boycott the Xbox One because they don't trust Microsoft anymore. Some are disappointed with this announcement because certain features originally announced with the Xbox One (sharing game library with family, being able to play your games discless on any console as long as you're logged into your acct) have been removed as a result of the DRM U-turn. The race between PS4 and Xbox One may now be a lot closer than previously thought.

Well but they lost tons of supporters due to those actions and this will only mitigate the damage.

All it comes down to is the price. The reason why many people went with 360 is because it cost less than the ps3. Sony as now learned their lesson not to overcharge on a game console and they even claim that the ps4 will cost 100 dollars less than xbox one.

Not so much claim as have stated as fact. The prices are official and preorders for both consoles have already started at these prices or lower (or higher perhaps in some US states, as US price does not include sales tax). Part of the price difference is because Xbox One comes with Kinect - PS4 doesn't come with PS Eye. Frankly, I can't think of anything I would ever use a Kinect or PS Eye for, and I do not game in a large enough environment for this sort of thing to work anyway, so in this respect I really prefer Sony's policy of the PS Eye not being bundled or required. I don't want to be forced to pay extra for hardware I am not going to use but for some reason have to have connected in order to use the console. I doubt they will do a U-turn on this particular policy.

Right now what I want to know is firm release dates. It seems Xbox One will be out first but by no more than a month or two (or three?). At this point it's pretty hard to tell how well they will sell. Wish Amazon or someone would release some data about number of preorders for each, and see if preorders for Xbox One jump up in the coming days as a result of this information.
