Well, in case you haven't heard of it...
From just searching in Google, I found an anime convention in Minnesota titled Anime Detour, and here's another link to their website. Hopefully I helped you out...? ^_^'''

Anybody going to Yaoi-Con? confused I'm really dying to find someone so I could ask them to get me an autograph from my fav mangaka, Takanaga Hinako, since she will be there and I'm not old enough to go cry Anyone willing to volunteer? smile wink grin I'm seriously desperate...I'd die to go this year dead

For those of you not going to Comic-Con (me! me!), I recently saw a commercial on Channel G4 (yay! Ninja Warrior!) that they will be covering live this convention. I'm going to watch! The channel is on satellite - don't know about cable.

AX was not that impressive. It was poorly organized, but i still enjoyed it. I bought a lot of stuff and completed my objectives. I got into the SOS panel, the concert (yes, i did wait in the parking lot), met the creator of Megatokyo and Dom (got their autographs and shook hands with them), met the director for Mushishi, and acquired this:

not bad for my first con. Unfortunately, thats probably it for the year.

First of all, most of the staff were pretty much useless and a lot of the volunteers just didnt do/know anything. Also, the lines were way too long. Even though there were a lot of people, ax should've expected it. It is unexcusible to make fans wait 2+ hours (i'm not really sure if it was 2 hrs but it was still a very long time) in a parking lot. Furthermore, the set up was way confusing. There were so many lines everywhere and a lot of the times we didnt know which was which. I have never thought getting into the exhibition hall would be so complicated. To me, they could've planned this years ax much better

Oh yeah, you're right eyes I didn't even think of that. I mean, I was annoyed at the waiting, but I just thought it was normal eek *only been to one other convention before*

My sister, my friend, and I wasted a whole hour just standing at the FUNimation booth to get autographs cry The line was so long it wrapped around the whole booth! dead mad no

Wai Wai!!! New York Anime Festival December 7th-9th!!! Found out about this from the google ads at the bottom of this page, too, so thanks BU-Manga!

Cosplay for the con is out though since I'll be super huge by then - 7 months preggers. So, I'm gonna make shirts: one for me that says "future otaku" over my belly, and one for my daughter whom I'll be dragging along with me 'cause she's so much fun which says "otaku in training". Sounds cute, ne?

Let me know if you're going and what you'll be wearing so we can try and spot each other. lol Although I'm sure I'll be pretty easy to spot by then.

here's a gaint plug.

Everyone try to go to KawaiiKon in 2008,
it's in the spring so the 2007 one passed already.

it has only been around 3 years now and is still small, so we need as many people to go as possible to make it grow.

...it's in Hawaii by the way
Hope to see you there!

So, anyone going to AFO this year?
@Merlerna, which part of MN are you from? If you're somewhere near the Twin Cities and don't mind traveling, there's a lot of Cons you could be going to. Detour (MN), ACen (IL), SoGen Con (I think that's how you abbreviate it, which is gonna be in SD).

So far in 2007, I started with Detour, missed ACen, went to AX, and now heading towards AFO. Yes, go cross country roadtrips.

OMG. I was in that line too for the SOS autograph. Didn't get one though, sadly. Kinda sucks that they only signed 100 posters even though there were 500+ ppl in line for their autograph. Yea this year was poorly organized since it was their first time back in long beach in a long time (been in Anaheim for the past however many years). Yea for the concerts, me and my friends just waited till everyone was in, they always had extras. Was able to get pretty good seats for all of em that way. Got the Death Note guy's autograph, and the One Piece char. designer this year to do a sketch for me (I chose Nami btw), so that was one my higlights this year.

I was thinking of going to Comic Con, but I've never been there before (been to AX 4 times). Anyone know if anyone special is going to be there or any special events to make it worth going to?

licenses I predict at San Diego later this month:
- Ai Kora
- Majin Tantei NĂ´gami Neuro
- Mx0
- Rosario + Vampire

you know Viz picks up all the shounen they can, and these seem due.
other publishers aren't as predictable, but it shouldn't take long before Fairy Tail and Vinland Saga are snagged by Del Rey.
