But then again, I'm a guy so what the hell do I know. I like rationality, where it seems most women think more emotionally. (fact)

Do you air this view often? You must be HUUGGGEEE with the ladies roll eyes

well there is the case of Stockholm syndrome but still in many shojo the girl has an option but still chooses the rapist over a kind/nice guy .....

well what he is saying isnt exactly wrong either .....in real life too girls fool around with the so called "cool guys" apparently some rich brats who can afford not to study through school and college...and when they have had their fun playing around ....they choose the same people they ignored once to marry in the end ........irony bigrazz

It's annoying...especially when the girl sits there and screams, "No! No,you can't...!" yet we all know she's pretty much enjoying everything the guy does roll eyes Then, when he's done "playing" w/ her, she asks, "Wait! Why did you stop?" eek

DISLIKE!
Anything romanticizing rape, sexual abuse, or emotional abuse is on my blacklist.

I'm not sure I've actually read a manga like this, but... after giving it some thought, I'd say it could be either good or bad, depending on how it's done, and what happens afterwards.

To those who would say it's bad categorically, I'd point out that it can be useful to show people what not to do, and why.

LOL this.
Oh and, if the falling in love part comes slowly. Not like after the chapter in which the girl gets raped she goes to the guy and goes "Baby come back!" or something.

It's not that I like it, I just like when it's handled well. A good handling would be if she fell in love with him but the relationship was not portrayed as love and the guy was not portrayed as a nice, reasonable, cool, or attractive person. And though I don't like the situation where he is her love interest instead of the nice guy it can also be handled well sometimes. If the manga makes rape look like a good or romantic thing, I'm utterly disgusted. If it's realistic or psychological or something like Stockholm Syndrome than it's all right with me. The situation isn't romantic though, just interesting to me. I also don't like how the female is sometimes portrayed as weak.

(And one other thing: how come in a lot of stories the
rapist sticks around after he's raped the girl?In that situation I think someone would run to escape the law. roll )

Rape is the worst. Anyone who enjoy reading mangas that encourages rape are trash. There is no way anyone would fall in love with a rapist nor should it even exist. I find it extremely sick and disturbing when I hear things like that. The issue of rape should not be enjoyed but rather an eye opener for readers to show how evil and unlawful it is to commit such an act.

Don't overanalyze it.
Do you hate it when people neglect their
education so they could shoot ion beams
from swords?
You should, since it is encouraging you to stop
going to school and spend more time fighting ethereal
enemies.

What comes my opinion on this, I don't read smut or shoujo,
since I get instantaneously trolled by the surreal nature of the males,
so I cannot really say, but I do like to read twisted stuff that is not full of
fluffy bullshit.
But one thing I can say. Absolutely nothing is better
than reverse rape. Also, all rape is rape. Be it female raping a male
or seme slapping uke with his dick. Don't tell me you find these two
as something else? If you do, why would a male raping female be any
worse than vice versa or yaoi or yuri?
What, they automatically get preggo with an unwanted child?
What kind of preindustrialised wasteland do you come from?

Ugh, definitely NO! That's disgusting and endlessly depriving towards the girl. I absolutely detest that kind of manga. Falling for a bad boy is one thing, but falling in love with someone who rapes you! That's pathetic. sad

Ummm... no.

I'm a big fan of stockholm syndrome yes. So it's a maybe. It's true that sometimes girls display behavior that logically hard to understand (I'm a girl, so I know). People say that we think more emotionally, and I think to some part that's true too, and It's not to be taken as an insult. We have good rationale, only sometimes emotions take over at times.

Coming back to the topic. Rape is a strong word. If it's truly rape then it's something that would traumatize and scar a person forever (unless the victim enjoys that kind of situations? It's possible) It should not be endorsed or encouraged, and it's a little bit hard for the viewers (girls) to emphatize with the main guy after that ("She's in love with that guy? Oh come on!") But I can see how if it's played well it can be an interesting development.

Revenge is the best. I really hate those mangas, because the girls are stupid and fall to the rapist is bull. I want to see the victim takes revenge.
Teachers pet manga is the worst, everyone raped poor girl, and she was stupid too.

i think u have read some of shinjo mayu's works biggrin
that author is an extreme chauvinist all his manga are like that

Wait! Shinjo Mayu's a guy!!?? That... explains everything?

Sorry, Shinjo Mayu isn't a guy, but that would explain much.
rape is not aceptable unless the male has a REALLY good reason for doing it and he better FRICKIN GET ON HIS KNEES AND BEG FOR FORGIVENESS.

Just once I would like to a strong female lead get raped but not take the guy back, that would be lovely. smile

It's funny, because there are a LOT of girl who falll in love for rapists, serial killers, etc. This "OH! gross! I'm a girl and I will never understand, I'm feminist" is just fake-truth.

As other people have pointed out, that's stockholm syndrome and is generally considered a psychological disorder.

Well that there's dub-con, which is really a whole different ball game that hinges on the fact that there's implied consent buried somewhere in all the smut. Dub-con doesn't bother me, but sometimes the line between dub-con and non-con is seriously blurry.

Strangely enough, one the best treatments of rape that I've seen recently was in a one shot by Minami Kanan, someone who usually gives Shinjo Mayu a run for her money on the rapist!hero front.
