I finished psyren 20 minutes ago, and i like it. for me, the end wasn't rushed (about the plot), for me it's just that the author didn't made a whole chapter to explain how people are in the end (and i don't find it too bad)
About the originality of the main character, i would say insanity is what make him interesting and not like other manga (i didn't read bleach, just saw till 70th anime, but other mangas exist : ratman, law of ueki, tower of god... to change with what the precedent guys talk about)
I mean, it's one of the rare Shounen manga where the main character is ready to be a monster (say if you disagree) in order to save "the world" (but the originallity here doesn't exist, read lucifer an the biscuit hammer), and not to search to stay within a "justice" like one piece, or naruto, when you save the world.
HOWEVER, this idea isn't exploited a lot, mainly at the end, but it seduced me, and was one of the fact that make me like psyren. it would be interesting to have a changement of situation.
About the powers, it's really interesting to see how the authors thought about the Powers
! what are the base of these powers, on what are they built, try compare psyren to law of ueki plus, or naruto, or one piece,or To ar majutsu no index, or yureka (it's like a vidoegame) ! (or star wars x) ) However, there are limits to the originallity : black burst is very similar to the void maker in taboo-tatoo (a very interesting system of power too, but look like law of ueki plus a lot). About the plot, like someone has already said, it's no more gantz at the point where the MC get enough power to fight back the bad guys. The author, i think, was trying to be different of gantz by giving to the characters the p-p-p-p-Power !
Another point, most of the time, there is no really bad guys (like in shaman king
), they turned out every time to search the sake, more or less, of the earth by their own way (everyone but the last, mytthra, and we don't know, maybe, if there were a sequel, it would turn into a "not-bad" too ?).Moreover, the MC was the dark, and tree guys (already forgot) was the light, and the tree of the life !
So, it's less typical, and entertaining. but maybe these points about the plot are now cliché too !
originality is such a problem ! always subjective.
