Water.

Zombies can't cross water.
Fighting them - when you can isolate yourself from them, alert the military and calmly organize a large amount of firepower ( preferably a BGM-109 Tomahawk ) - is plain stupid.

Dear god, is there really a zombie movie where zombies were deterred by water dead Which movie was that? Or wait, do you mean Zombies Ate My Neighbors for SNES?

I'd like to see how my unsharpened kill bill-replica sword would do against them biggrin

Land of the Dead, the zombies are scared of water for about a second, then jump right in. In day of hte dead, those people fishing on the island at the very end, if i recall zombies walk up from the surf. And in World War Z, there was this whole chapter devoted to undersea zombie fighting.

@zero - you mean crappy hollywood blockbusters that are made to disgust every human being stupid enough to watch it? what I understand as a zombie -> an effect of voodoo. A real walking dead, an animated corpse. And it's not able to cross water.

You're contradicting your own statements:

And good luck for those who go for chainsaws...if the zombies were created by a bacteria/virus, then you're as sure as dead when a piece of zombie's shattered flesh meets with your skin.

So, which is it, voodoo or bioengineering?

Here's a history on zombies. The original zombie was a term from the carribean i think. And that is voodoo. Real zombies are just normal people who have no will over themselves, they're not the undead, and they're controlled by shamans? Can't really recall, long time since i checked out the history of zombies.

Bioengineering... idk about that, but in some books aka World War Z and the Zombie Survival guide, max brooks says a virus causes the zombie infection. It infects the body then heads over and destroys the front lobe then takes over the body. Can't recall what the virus is called tho.

Besides zombies dont exist, whether it's voodoo or bioengineering is completely arbitrary

I'd want two custom made .60 caliber handguns(with scopes), a sniper rifle and a semi automatic rifle. Then when all my ammo ran out a titanium baseball bat filled with lead so it's heavy enough to do some good damage.

Okay good. No Signs-like zombie water weaknesses.

In Zombies Ate My Neighbors (SNES) squirtguns can take out: zombies, mummies, aliens, werewolves, and babies with knives, buuuut not dracula.

I'd definitely try to find a semi-auto rifle and a machete. Realistically, however, I don't know where I'd find the rifle, so I'd probably have to just use the machete.

Do realise that a melee weapon is sort of useless when you get attacked by 20 zombies at time. You hit once, the weapon is stuck... 19 to go.
I personally wouldn't get too near to those zombies.
After all, they are specialised in unarmed combat. biggrin

It's a question of availability. The first place people raid during a zombie attack is the gun store. I don't even know where to find a gun store, so by the time I get there I'm just not sure about weapon availability. As far as my machete is concerned, I'll be using it only for self defense, so I'll probably be running from most zombies I encounter, and will try to avoid being surrounded.

*sigh*...
It's for what you understand as a zombie. Most of you think that they would be created by a bacteria/virus, yet some of you would go for a chainsaw and bathe in zombie's blood and scattered flesh.

@funkmu - voodoo created zombies are literally animated corpses, with a Houngan ( voodoo shaman ) or mambo ( female voodoo shaman )as the puppet master. they can't move in the daylight, can't cross water, etc.

The interesting part is - they have some vague recollection of their previous lives and they may attempt to try speaking.

Click A repeat topic, methinks.

But this topic has a poll!.

Since this one seems to be more popular and active (for now), I'm locking the other thread

me thinks the best plan of action is to get somewhere high. i mean come one they're brainless right? how're they supposed to climb a ladder or something of the sort? then i'd sit up there with stock piles of food and water and my personal little sniper rifle (it'd be like shooting fish in a barrel). and don't worry i'd be helping all you weirdos bent on using melee weapons (provided you're fighting in a plain or somewhere where i can see).
edit:: two way radios are a must

yes ur quite right, high places are the best against a zombie horde, tho a sniper is too slow, possibly a semi auto with a scope. If you're on the run and need a place to sleep and can't find high ground? Find close trees then make urself a makeshift hammock high up (if you're on the run from zombies then i'm gonna assume you have some sort of blanketing stuff for survival)

But where is the fun if you don't fight them?

In a video game, sure i'll go and tear their limbs off with my bare hands. In rl? I wanna get as far away as possible, being attacked by real zombies =/= fun.

I'd love to have an assault rifle in the event of a zombie invasion *o*

...but I'd probably be too terrified to fire it biggrin
