Extreme body modification: would you consider doing it?
Poll
Why not? I'm always interested in trying out new things.
No way... that's not something I'd ever consider. My body's too precious to tamper with or I've other reasons(health/religious/etc.)
I've always been interested in extreme body modification but when it comes to putting my thoughts into action, I'm not so sure about it.
I'm currently uninterested but who knows what might happen in the future?

depends, cos if you include internal body modifications as well i wouldnt mind having internal bone structured replaced with a super strong metal like wolverine, but thats assuming i could survive an operation like that.
if ur talking abt external i dunno, maybe replacing my arm with a cybernetic one that could operate not that dissimilar to an omni-tool or a datainterface machine that could hack other machinery

I don't know...
If there was something in the future where modifying your body would actually enhance your ability to do certain things, then I'd be all up for it. But for now, I'm happy with all of my original parts.

Just because someone's head was chopped off doesn't mean they're dead. That's just silly.
i would like maybe one more finger on my left hand. it would make guitar playing more interesting and give me better reach

they did that in the movie: Gattaca - only it was a pianist

Here are some more people who have done this...
like I said, I wouldn't do it, but some of them don't look too bad and I can understand their reason for modification. Like the illustrated woman, who had a skin condition anyway, or the performers...

I met "the Enigma" last week in Asbury Park, NJ - really nice guy, he has way more modifications done now then in those pictures though
anyway first thing i thought of when i met him was this thread

No way, no how. Don't have anything against it in general per se, but the whole body mutilation thing makes my stomach churn (and not in a good way).

Not my cup of tea.If you're into that sort of thing, go read Koroshiya 1. (There's a movie on it too called "Ichi the Killer") It's primarily about yakuza but there's a masochistic antagonist who's into that sort of thing. Definitely not for the faint of heart. I also made a topic about this series but no one responded. I guess no one's read this series or seen the movie yet...
