I'm currently on volume 40+ of OP. Not as impressed as I am with Naruto. Bleach kinda lost it recently though imo.

And there is no reason to excuse the "never-occurring-obvious-deaths" in OP. OP is also overkill emotional, and it's so damn formulative it's somewhat sickening. Naruto is the least demographic formulative of the bunch. biggrin cool

Yeah I think Dr. Love pretty much nailed it and gjoerulv makes a good point. People cut OP a little more slack just b/c it doesn't takes itself as seriously as Bleach and Naruto.

Everyone gets on Bleach for using the same "Damsel in Distress" story line while OP uses the same "Defeat Group XXX" thing or something like that almost everytime. Also people claim how OP has a wide variety of "fresh" characters when nearly all OP chars follow the very same shonen archetypes that other titles get accused of and called "cliche".

Also Bleach is basically ran by the fans and SJ so a lot of it is going to be random fighting and powerups. But there are some really good pieces in it like Nnoitra's story and the Turn Back the Pendulum mini-arc, and *fanboy mode* SS arc > than all. *snaps out of it*

And people tend to overlook some of the subtleties and the surprisingly intricate story of Naruto and label it "generic". The problem w/ Naruto is nothing is ever revealed until people have already lost interest or even care anymore.

Now that my rant is over, I would like to state that I love OP but it's nothing new under the sun and also has its glaring weak points like Bleach or Naruto. And I just like playing devil's advocate smile wink grin

Meh. One Piece doesn't have much of an interesting plot compared to Naruto, in my opinion. In OP, all they do is go from one place to another, getting in huge fights and spewing out a whole bunch of stuff on "nakama". It is interesting to see the crazy stuff drawn and the variety of crazy powers, but there is nothing negative that happens to the crew, really... or anybody except the bad guy.... In Naruto, the plot has twists, certain people die, and people show a bit more real emotion. That's what makes it seem a bit better plot-wise, for me. The fights are about the same as OP, they both are good. But don't even talk about Bleach's storyline... it seems it was just made up as it went along and didn't really have much of a sense of direction. So there's me opinion, don't hate. 8D

well honestly i don't post much but this is a debate on something that i actually consider to be true with a lot this is going to be long but well said

One piece is artistically as in the storyline a better story naruto and bleach cannot compare why some would ask because one piece is basically a fantasy dream land with a goal and the author does it in such a unique way if you've never noticed oda eichiro has based some plots on very deep things. the sky piea ark who can deny that to look like america with the native indians with a twist im not an extreme fanboy so i don't know all the exacts but the vivi/crocidle arc you cannot deny civil war as inspiration parly . The cp9 ark how can you better possibly attempt to say that government in the world can be corrupt and then now carl marx with the bourgeous it may even be inspired by the french revolution i mean this author has inspiration from many different sources with different meanings behind it yet he also did the chopper arc to say follow you dreams. Some say that its just random beat em up and omg i love my nakama but read it again each character follows something completely different yet unique. Ambiguity is one piece strength its weaknesses however
no major character dies it is irrelevant how many side charachters and supporting character you mention nothing significantly occurs to the main character in onepiece compared to Naruto and Bleach they are both more dark while onepiece the characters act childish alot . Naruto and Bleach is more like a story and very very concise Naruto much more than Bleach. anything can happen in naruto unlike what people have said for all we know we can learn about another hidden group who are doing evil purposes thats how a few have been.but its more concise knowing that naruto has goals small time and big time goals while onepiece is go with the flow and bleach changes when the author feels like starting a new arc. naruto and bleach are both in art of drawing better than onepiece but oda deliberately draws like that because if he drew as naruto and bleach it would be messed up . Naruto and bleack have dark aspirations possibly in the main characters while one piece do not the vaizard and ninetail no only do they have inner struggle but also their comrads they can't be completly sure while one piece you couldve been a rapist basically as long as you help them on the way its irrelevant naruto has sasuke and bleach has too many urahara the quincy chad orihime his own relationship with his father and mother maybe less urahara but the darkness in those characters are still shown

Naruto is great but it seems more like a played out drama on a chess board what's the next move going to be and how will the home team respond to adequately take care of it which is intriguing and their build up the suspense the fact that abilities alone are a possibilites of childish as well naruto and bleach weapons and configuration are far dark than onepiece swords ultra human abilities monsters from souls of men or the art of nin which in itself has limitless boundaries fighting genjustu taijutsu element based attacks and summoning to sum it up thats what draws people in the fact that naruto actually had to hit puberty as well as ichigo and make serious decisions compare to our beloved luffy who has good morals but act like a child to deliver these so called morals and so randomly as well bleach is currently boring as someone said the author held out for too long
naruto only got interesting again since pain fight and sasuke itachi but the author for naruto uses interesting darkness in his manga completly switching roles which adds but look at bleach and onepiece the thing is their so similar either they use a pre existant character that was good and make a bad twist or they bring something out of nowhere and were all like wtf

Is it bad that my enjoyment of these long-running, simple shonen series hinges near completely on the apparent sexiness of the female characters?

In which case Bleach > One Piece >>>>>> Naruto.

I can't stand One Piece for the same reason that Cowboy Bebop isn't my favorite anime, despite having all the keys to being one of my favorites: The art.

Also, I don't like Pirates.

Also, I don't like stretch armstrong like characters.

Also, Luffy is a stupid name.

Also, Sailing is lame.

Also, Salt water is salty.

Also, straw hats are goofy.

Also....

I ran out of alsos...

I disagree with D.God, as The World, The characters and The Fights are not what makes one piece manga different from the other two.It it the theme. (Of course there are some differences, but that not what I want to call atention to)

Naruto, as some have already said, is a lot darker then OP, some times there are not bad guys and good guys. Yon can spend days on the Net arguing if Sasuke should or should not leave the leaf. Naruto is a lot more mature than OP.

OP is simple, bad guys are really bad and are beat by the good guys, who are really good. OP is naive, I've never seen Ruffy do any hard choices and his actions never harm others. There's no reponsability in OP, Ruffy can decide to fight the world and no friends of him will suffer because of this. There are no implications for his actions.

This doesnt mean the manga is bad, but it is a matter of taste. I like more a plot that has to make sense in detail, I like to rethink if the characters action are correct, I like to see that vilains and heros are all humans, who have virtues and shortcomings.

For example: I love to see Zabuza cry as Haku dies, he is human.(Which villain in OP isnt a complete moral less bastard?) I don't like when the world is black and white, but prefer it to be somewhat gray.

And that's why Naruto is more popular on the net and why I think Naruto is better. Of course, OP is easier for children to follow, so it is more popular outside the net.

Although I don't read the OP manga (only watch the anime), I have to say that OP outshines Naruto and Bleach. The characters in OP are great, Luffy being my favorite. However, I think that the Naruto characters may have a slight edge over OP characters. Bleach characters are... plain.

The world of OP outshines the others, though. I haven't seen a world more outrages and full of fantasy as the one in OP. The Devil Fruit concept is great, IMO. Plus, there's never a dull moment when the Strawhat crew reaches a new destination. The Naruto world is fairly interesting. A ninja world constantly at war can make for a good setting, but overall, it's not really anything too original (a lot of warring worlds in a lot of different stories). The Bleach world is plain. It's just Earth with a spirit world.

The story for OP also takes the cake. The reason OP wins for me is because there is so much going on.It starts off as nothing but someone (Luffy) with the resolve to become the Pirate King. However, after that, they start throwing in elements such as the poneglypths (or however you spell it), the truth about the beginning of the world government, the Shichibukai, the significance of "D". I mean, there are so many things that need to be resolved that it is hard to find an insignificant chapter. This can be too much for some people, but for me, it makes for a great story.

Naruto's story went from average to pretty good. I wasn't very hooked to the story from the beginning to most of it after the time skip, but they are now starting to pick it up. Bleach's story went from compelling, and possibly great, to lame and slow-paced, to interesting again, and now it's at neutral. You never know what's coming next, but not in a good way.

The fights are almost a draw. The slight edge goes to OP. Not because they are filled with such amazing action-packed fights, but because the fights always have a greater meaning. There's always more to the fight than one guy beating up another guy. Not to mention that the dialog during the fights are much better than the ones during Bleach and Naruto. Bleach has the slight edge over Naruto in this category, even though the recent fights have been... average? All the fights during the SS arc were great, and the HM arc (as useless as it it was) had some pretty badass fights too. Naruto has great fights as well, but in general, they're not that appealing to me.

So, for me, the ranking would go: OP > Naruto = Bleach. The only reason why Bleach is tied with Naruto right now is because I think Bleach can finally go somewhere good after such a long time (although I am one of those that actually enjoyed the Vizard Gaiden). But it is no secret that Bleach's story greatly suffered during the Arrancar and HM arcs. Let's see how they can make it up.

Ugh the drawing and animation of OP, just makes me look away. Story wise haven't even bother starting the series cause of the crapiness of the characters. Bleach (manga) is good, stopped watching anime cause of fillers. Naruto (manga) is pretty good, some good plot, cool characters, Naruto (anime) on the other hand SUCKS seriously 100 EPISODES OF FILLERS!!!

if you consider OP's story is great, you need to read more. In that regard even Naruto is better.

Didn't really read the OP's massive wall of text but I agree that OP is far, far better than Naruto and Bleach. The reason(s) is pretty simple, imo.

Simply, OP doesn't take itself seriously and its humor is far better than the other two.

Naruto, and to a lesser degree Bleach, fail for a variety of reasons but the main reason is that both mangakas try to add drama and emotions using different plot points but neither are very good at doing so and the plot points usually seem forced or repetitive and the emotions artificial or melodramatic. This is compounded by the sheer length of these shonens.

OP has some of the same flaws as the other two but because its far more consistently funny it's easier to forgive the repetitive plot.

Take the current Bleach arc, rescuing Orihime, and OP's Robin rescue arc for example. For both manga, its the second time the crew has to save one of the female protagonists. Both women leave voluntarily to protect their friends. But, for me at least, when the Orihime arc was introduced I groaned but when the Robin arc was introduced, I was too busy laughing at Sogeking to care.

To be fair, I think that all three have pretty good action. It's just that when they aren't in the middle of a fight, Naruto and Bleach start to drag unbearably whereas OP is still enjoyable for its humor.

naruto has a better story indeed but the thing is with naruto is that they stall a lot but one piece doesnt but that dont mean it has a better story . its just the progress is interesting and funny - luffy fr ex.
bleach is almost like a fail now in the newest chapters,if u kno what im talkin bout, n they also stall, but bleach is also good becus it also has a good story line and action just like naruto and op
in my opinion, i think naruto and op are both good now im just lost interest in bleach
everytime i go to onemanga.com i would always go naruto>onepiece>bleh

My favorite is One Piece out of them all for the fact that it makes me happy and hopeful when I read it. I don't feel stressed when I'm reading it, I don't want to rip my hair out and I don't want to throw it out the window in frustration when a character just can't seem to get it right.

Naruto does have a better storyline, but sometimes, it makes me freaking mad and want to yell at them for not being so stupid.
