To be honest I don't read much Shoujo anymore and mainly read yaoi with some shounen mixed in.

However, I kept series this series being mentioned, so I took a look at it. First I was thinking of slashing Zero and Kaname but then I got hooked in the plot. I'm in the whole 'wtf just happened' stage because of the last ten chapters and the whole confusion of the other vamp characters. It's hard to tell from the black and white scans who is whom.

But the plot...that hooked me. I can tell this is an angsty series and it's not going to have a happily ever after storyline. It feels like Red River crossed with some D.Grayman. I just know it's not going to end well, but I'm hooked. I have to know who is going to live, die, and how.

So far I've been reading the scanlations off of onemanga but I'm actually thinking of buying the books. I'm also looking forward to seeing the anime. It typically helps me understand deeper plot movements to see it all in one sequence than over time.

As for confusing storylines....try Amatsuki. NO ONE knows what the hell is going on. Did the kid travel in the past? Is it all a game? Is it real at all? It's one big mind frak.
It runs in zero sum so we got the pretty bois angle and the shounen angle of fights...but by god the plot is driving me nuts. It flashes forward and back more than LOST! <---Yes I'm still watching Lost.

In comparison, VK is a breeze. laugh
It's a little confusing but I have great hope that eventually, possibly in another flashblack sequence or story teller, we will be given all the details.

...I can't say the same for Amatsuki or Lost. smile wink grin

Dropped so very, very long ago. Might pick back up at the very end.

Dude, its one of the climax-waiting-to happen part of the series..Dont like teh series much but I am interested to see whether Zero emerges as a super vampire and unfortunately wins the girl, dont really like her and not because she's popular or ugly (she isnt ugly) but because, she is a very typical clingy gal..anyway, my point IS that I will drop it once Zero dies/is killed if he is going to be at all..

I read this with an air of amused disbelief. With a predictable plot, sterotypical characters and little or no characterisation Ifind it hard to take seriously. When a manga has to rely heavily on its artwork to entice readers to continue then it has got serious problems. The author started of with a idea that had been done several times before not only in manga but other forms of media and, well, never tried to be origional, and that is the problem. A lack of caring from the author/mangaka whatever to do better.

eek U just read my mind!!!! This is my exact opinion about this overrated series though I still read it but my reasons have been mentioned...

I did for awhile. And only picked it up again because of Zero. Most of the time I found myself irritated at the way the story progressed. Not because of relationships weren't going the way I wanted them to BUT because (IMO) it seemed to drag on. For one example chapter 43 was the first chapter that Zero pointed his gun at Yuki but it doesn't really pick up and continue the scene until chapter 46. That was like a three month wait.

I only continue to read this because the art is so pretty. otherwise, it seems like the story will go on forever, and im bored with it.

i might. there could be a much darker plot, which would be cool but the story is only like 45 chapters. in the future, i might be more into it simple because there is more to read.

To be honest, I'm pretty much bored with VK.
But I'll never drop it, it is just that before Yuuki and Kaname got together, the story was really good but due to the fact that when Yuuki and Kaname got together, there were like all these problems and confusion going on. For example: Are Yuuki and Kaname really related? I got the part that they are adopted siblings but due to that fact, Zero was kicked out of the Triangle and he became Yuuki's enemy, which was something that I never wanted. Also due to all the confusions, I because bored of it cause the story isn't really connected.
Before all this happened, I was a hardcore VK fan, the type that jumps up and down when the next chapter comes out and surf for VK pictures online and buys VK stuffs from Ebay.
Now I kinda is like hanging on the string of Love/Hate and Like
But I know that Im not that crazy about Vk, it is not really interesting or entertaining to me now but I still love the art.
But I'll support KanamexYuki all the way ^-^ but don't like the fact that since they got together..all these problems with Rido came up and the plot just drags on and there isn't any happiness involved that much like back in the days..the fight with Zero and the cherished moments where Yuki can only get to see Kaname once in a while. But i also place the blame on myself, I shouldn't have read it the scans when it first came out cause the scans comes out like once a month which makes me forgot what happened before or has only small memories of what is happening so the plots doesn't really connect to me now and since Im kinda bored of it, I didnt really want to reread it.This is just my opinion but I know the reasons why Vk can be both Loved, Hated, Liked, Ok, and Dropped but Im glad that I got to express myself and stop lying to myself that the plot will become better so dont change the '10' that you gave it

I got bored after I found out the couple I was rooting for are actually blood related. Yuki is gonna end up with Emo, great, there's no reason I should read it anymore. Another vampire story that has disappointed me *sigh* Also it's confusing so I've moved on. Bye VK but Kaname, is still hot. cool

Given that pureblood vampires intermarry a lot according to the story, that certainly doesn't rule out the Kaname x Yuuki pairing, unless you're turned off by the idea of it being incest, even though it is acceptable for vampires, especially purebloods?

If that was your reasoning, I think you gave up on the story too soon.

gave up a while back after trying to see what everyone was interested in. From where I stopped it was like a bad shoujo and a failed shounen all at once.

No, and I don't plan to. I love Vampire Knight and to be honest, it's one of the first mangas I started reading. Though the last few chapters have been a little confusing, I'm going to continue reading anyways.

I know they intermarry but the idea of them being siblings kind of just didn't appeal to me. There's other factors that led me to stop reading as well it's not just the incest.
