Yeah just be patient. This is a hit manga it takes time to unfold such a vast plot. And u know I'm so much more interested in what happened in her family than her career

For all of you who complain of it's lack of development, laggy-ness, and how it's getting boring, I greatly disagree. The reason why it keeps going without a fast love development is what makes it one of those rare shoujos. Haven't you all read those typical shoujos? The ones where not-so-pretty-girls-that-are-actually-really-pretty-girls catch the eyes of the most popular guys and then some crazy drama goes and then they live happily-ever-after all in three or four volume kinds of manga?

Skip Beat is different. If you can't see how it outshines other shoujos, I'm afraid you are missing out on a lot of something wonderful.

I don't mean to hate on Skip Beat and I agree with what you say, except the thing about the three or four volume manga. The stories in those manga only unfold so rapidly because they ARE only three or four volumes. If they were longer, they may have more time to develop the relationship and have a happily ever after ending after maybe 8, 10, 20, etc volumes. There are longer shoujo series that are like this, Ouran, Fruits Basket, etc. Just because it's over 20 volumes doesn't mean Skip Beat won't end up like those other shoujo with the same ending. It's just taking a way longer time to get there.

THIS MANGA IS LABELED AS "SLOW ROMANCE"

if you guys are getting impatient, drop this manga. none
for me, i want to it to be longer.
it's the waiting time for the next chapter to come out that makes me annoyed,
but not the manga itself.
I hate those manga in which the characters fall in love with each other and become bf-gf in the first volume.
like eewwww. that's so realistic, bro. none

...I think the thing that bothers me most about this manga is that the chapters were supposed to be coming out every other week... And now it seems like we're only getting one every month or so. >.>

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
(Another thing: I spent a loooong time looking forward to seeing some Sho Bashing after he kissed Kyoko and was VERY disappointed with her reaction. I want blloooooddd!)

I think the pace has definitely fallen... It used to take me half an hour or more to go through a chapter because there is SO MUCH MATERIAL in it; I'd stop around page 20 or so and check the page number because I couldn't believe how much had happened in the chapter (regardless of how much the plot progressed). It seems that recently, however, sensei has been using much bigger frames, more whole-page or two-page spreads, and so on, in effect cutting down on the amount of material in the chapter.

Heard sensei's health hasn't been brilliant though, so that might account for it...

This manga is a depiction of a rollercoaster ride in my opinion, it has ups and downs aswell as the straight and narrow so-to-speak it would be boring if there was only cliff hangers and all this information coming to us at once regarding the main characters, its boring if its divulged too soon, having these other sub-plots happening make it more realistic in my opinion and now we've reached an arc at present with BJ/Cain Heel its extremely hair rising and hold-onto-your-seats, its awesome!

All I'm looking forward to is when Kyoko and Ren finally have leading roles together and the history of Kyoko's parents are hopefully revealed just like Ren's, there has to be some deeper past regarding her mother or maybe I'm looking too much into it <.< Its going to be at least another major and a mini arc before Kyoko and Ren have leading roles together.

Its a really good series and particularly since the acting side is so close to home for me.

Agree 100%. I'm all for romance, but it seemed to become too much about Ren. Yet, despite spending chapters dedicated to his dark and troubled past, there's nothing note worthy revealed. But I admire his complexity and the author's ability to make us keep reading. I just want a more focus on acting and the heroine. But on the more romantic side, Kyoko and Ren are actually the most scary actors ever! If Kyoko just had the same drive as before it'd be amazing. Potential psychological warfare.

I actually don't mind at all that it's spanning so many volumes. If anything, it makes it more realistic to me. We can see love slowly blossom; I think it's a lot more meaningful than her falling quickly in love with someone. And especially considering the "trauma" Kyoko faced when she realized Sho was using her-it would be unnatural for her to just suddenly fall for Ren (regardless of how attractive he is wink )
Plus....it's just so well done...I honestly wouldn't mind if it never ended >__< (er, of course I do want plot progression) But, even just the random arcs that give insight to the characters thoughts and motivations....I don't know...it's really nice. Not to mention all the super funny scenes~ ^_^

I don't tend to agree that it is dragging on. I think that it has the dragging on effect for me and others because of the 1 month wait for a chapter. When that chapter is finally released, most of what we are getting is dialogue, which can sometimes be boring but most of the dialogue is important to the events leading up to/after the climax of an arc (which attracts the readers back to reading it again imo). To tell the truth, I hope that this manga lasts for another 10 years. It's one of the best i've read despite that "dragging on" feeling.

I definitely feel it is dragging. Not the overall plot, but just every once in a while, there are some sub plots that will continue on and on and on and on for apparently no reason. I like long mangas, but not mangas the stretch themselves out with dragging subplots.

Take the latest chapter for example, it feels SO SLOW. I just reread Tokyo Crazy Paradise the other day (one of my all time favs) and it's never been so draggy.

We've had months and months focused on Ren and his dodgy past interfering with his day to day life and relationship with Kyoko. Ok, I get it, it must be really really bad and he's scared of his other self and he doesn't know what to do. Gotcha, alright. Can we move on? Can we resolve it now? It feel like it's been the same chapter over and over rewritten a little differently each chapter.

Ren's problem doesn't need to be completely resolved right now, but I'd like it if every 30 chapters or so he wouldn't take 300 steps back about his feelings for Kyoko. This isn't even a pairing problem, believe it or not, the pairings are not the reason why I read this manga. *I'm more interested in Kyoko's past and her mom*

*sigh* Just a rant. Man, I want to move on now. I'm tired of the constant hinting of his past and I wish she'd just get his background story over with or at least the full story to the reader *not necessarily the characters of the story* none
