I REMEMBER READING SOMETHING LIKE THIS.

But i do remember that Takashima-san lost the case. And i was furious, because why? THE IMAGES WERE SO SIMILAR.
Wasn't there proof that Kayono traced a Calvin Klein model and just changed it to her style and made it her own? It's still plagiarism!

KAYONO PRACTICALLY TRACED, COPIED-AND-PASTED.
Apparently, Kayono's parents pressured the "higher ups" so that the charges were dropped. <-- as i read somewhere.
Although i feel really bad about Takashima-san being plagiarized, I don't think that her hiatus strike would stop kayono from copying other people. She's got her mighty parents to pressure the higher ups, remember? =|
EDIT: And i haven't heard anything new on this case. I think it's still in a stand still.
But she is still making manga. her 5th volume of Harlem Beat wa Yoake made was released on August 08, not so long ago. Takashima-san can't quit being a mangaka just 'cause somebody was copying.

Apparently, Ida Chikae, Kayono's mother, was there during the court trail, and she did her best to slander Kayashima's name, her manga works, as well as the entire BL genre in general. When Kayono was faced with questions regarding the plagiarism by fans, Chikae replied," Kayono doesn't read BL, so she can't copy what she didn't read." After the case ended, she went to Kayashima's publishers and pressured them to stop releasing her works, in order to end her career. Kayashima probably knew the case results beforehand, and submitted her rough drafts of Last Client before they imposed the two year ban on her.
It was despicable, but that's how it is. It seems Kayashima has moved on from this ordeal though, and the best way is simply to support her more than ever, and to let her know her works are loved worldwide. She has the advantage of having her works released in America, and on September 2008, she was invited as a guest to a con in Germany. In truth, although the case was resolved horribly, the evidence is right there in the website, detailing the comparison between each copied panel. She is simply no match to Takashima's caliber.

I can't believe they forbid her to draw mangasfor two years or so!
I mean it's really obvious that kayano copied her!

I'm so mad about this case! I mean, it was so obvious that Kayono copied Takashima's work! And I heard a rumor that she's not going to finish any of her bl stories or start any new ones. Does anyone know if that's true? I love all her work, but her yaoi was always my favorite!

I also think that this is really unfair!! and it's driving me really mad... I mean she has such a beautiful art and the storys are really interesting like last client.

Kayono is such a *** bitch. I cannot stand it.
I love Wild Rock and Private Magician so much.
Private Magician has been stopped at chapter 3 when things r getting interesting.
This is not the old ages when people don't know internet and 2 ideas coming from 2 people in different times can be considered as independent!!!
Kayono obviously has copied Takashima Kazusa-sensei works

I completely agree with you. Private Magician was getting really good! The same thing happened with Last Client, it was getting really interesting and then it wasn't finished! I just hope she picks up her old titles after she can. I'm so pissed off that she lost her case, it was definately only because the genre was yaoi and Kayono's mom was a mangaka too.

I read in messages above Kazusa Takashima was banned for 2 years (to stop her works) cuz she lost the case . Just today i go to her webpage and see he is posting messages (all at Japanese so I don't understand) this means she is finally come back of her banned ? and if it is the case someone knows if she is plainning to take again her unfinish works (like Last client) or the bane thing means that she won't able to take never again her works ? someone tell me if she is come or what , cuz i don't find new info about her

@Fampar I'm so glad someone brought this up again. It may be a lost cause but it's important that we keep the matter alive. I've opened a thread about this very subject last year but the news weren't good, sadly.
After the hiatus, the only works sensei managed to complete were the ones already licensed in English: Wild Rock (2002-2007) and Inu mo Arukeba Fallin' Love (2004-2007). I think that's it. Her unfinished (and not licensed) projects will probably remain unfinished. I don't think the reason behind this is the two-year ban. That is long overdue, no? I think maybe Takashima-sensei simply felt discouraged about continuing them or she found it hard to get it published even after all this time...
I miss Last Client sooo much

A shame , all of this make me think maybe, like you said the sensei doesn't feel like finishing more works which could be stealed by people like Kayono >.<
