Hello everyone,
me and my bf have had an idea about making a site for scanlation community for quite some time. In the light of latest events (closing of batoto) we decided it's time to move quickly and get to work - we want to start alpha version before final closing date.

Our plan is to build a site that would allow to agreggate and read releases (with all standard functionalities like bookmarks, comments and such) but would also give individual space to all groups to make their announcements and gather their own community. We are also thinking about means to secure ourselves from bots and scrappers so that sites like Mangafox won't thrive on us.

We will be really happy if there are groups interested in our project and willing to try it out when we have a prototype. We would like to make something that would suit needs of all people interested in scanlations so we are open to all suggestions and ideas.

If there is any interest, we will regularly update about our progress. We will be happy to answer any of your questions.

If you'd want to get informed about our work on your email address or ask about something you can contact us:

But how would you solve the fundamental problem that Batoto had, where the owner simply decided to quit one day, and anyone who depended on it got screwed? How would we entrust our content to a site that might disappear one day just like that?

Thank you for your feedback.

Both of us are professional web developers with experience in management and running business. We believe that we can build a website that will be much more stable and thus will require less administration work.

When the site is already stable, we plan on getting funds (by means accepted by the community) to hire additional programmer/-s. This will get rid of the problem of having to deal with website matters every day and every hour.

Lastly, if it ever comes to that we will want to end our ties with this project, we will search for someone willing to pick it up. If there isn't anyone like that, we can make website code open source for community to use as they wish to.

Yes, I'd guess there are many here who are interested and would appreciate updates about your progress.

Speaking just for myself, I'm interested in whatever/whoever's project that has to do with fan scanlation of manga and most things related. Let us know what's going on, and I'm sure many people will come and check it out and see if we can participate too.

Good luck with your project smile

I'm really looking forward for your progress update! How much time it takes on average, to launch and make stable a site? Steady, take your time.
Have you decided a name? I hope the scanlations will assembly there.

Hello and sorry it took so long. We have launched alpha version of the site. For now it doesn't really look great but we will be improving bit by bit.

It's available for anyone to test out:

mangasiteclient.krzysztofsikorski.pl

What is already done (but still will be improved)
- reading chapters
- browsing series with filltering by genre
- signing in/up
- bookmarks
- administration panel - adding series, volumes, chapters, tags

We encourage everyone to test out the site and report to us any bugs/problems.

We haven't decided on the name for the site yet. If you have any ideas for it please write it down here.

Building stable site depends on traffic - the more people use our software, the quicker we can track and eliminate bugs, build fast query and image engine, etc.
That's why we want to ask for your help and trust - we would like to get in contact with a scanlation group/scanlator that would be willing to make tests from the uploader side. We want to make easy to use uploading workflow and we cannot do that well without help of scanlators.

If you want to help please contact us here/by email/by mangaupdates messages.

How exciting!
From what I've seen, the bookmark system looks good, though I think it'd be nice to keep track of a series as well. But it's a pretty awesome feature to bookmark it by page.
I kinda wish the Delete button looked like a button rather than just text, but it still works when you click it so that's good.
The quality is pretty good too.
Main problem so far is that the buttons for the genre and delete stuff don't look like clickable things, and that when you hover over them it's a text cursor rather than a hyperlink click cursor.
But good job so far!
Edit:
It'd be nice if it were a secure http, and yeah it's not pretty but you already addressed that, and it's in its alpha so layout of course is gonna be meh.

But I sincerely look forward to what you do with it from here on!

Is shoujo missing in the categories? I mean yeah, I know that romance is almost in every shoujo manga, but it's a demography and style, not a genre.
Example; Code Geass is a shoujo and can't be classified as romance.
Genres are ok, but if demographies are included at least shounen, shoujo, and seinen are to be included. Some add josei and the ai version of the firsts ones.

Slice of life is missing.

Good work!
Also when the time is right, a rating system and a top rated list could be very useful.
I hope something's helping.

Josei, and Seinen are also missing.

Edit:
Gender Bender, and Historical are missing too.
I just saw that Mizutoryu said that already

So missing that I know of are:
Josei
Seinen
Gender Bender
Historical

well, so you gonna take everyone's hard work and post it on your site?
wow, I'm baffled how can you post that with a straight face.
We don't need more "batotos" so you know where you can stick your nice idea.

These damn russians are coming from the woodwork from everywhere!!

Thank you for your feedback, we really appreciate it.

Don't be bothered if some genres are missing for now. Adding them later will not be the problem. In fact, all uploaders are able to add genres/tags from the admin panel.

We have done some changes on the site:
- delete button (bookmarks) looks like a button now
- HTTPS support
- various fixes for admin panel - we encourage you to try it, if you are willing to try it out, just write to us and we will upgrade your account for you
- various visual improvements

Once again I thank all of you for your remarks and I hope we will hear more from you in the future.

We are not planning on stealing anyone's hard work. We want to create space where even smaller groups can publish their scanlations, communicate with their readers and promote themselves. I know that at the moment it looks like generic site for reading but I assure you that we have many ideas for making something different.

Also we won't upload anything by ourselves. We won't be forcing anyone to use our site either. We are doing it mainly for groups which can't/don't want to create their own sites.

New changes to our site:
- security measurements against scrappers
- better uploading workflow
- now you can upload not only scanlations but also your original works, we've made separate lists for that
- more options for filtering
- series now can have descriptions

We encourage everyone to have a look on the site:

Also if you're willing to try out uploading, write to us and we will upgrade your account:

Might I suggest a CAPTCHA for security? You can use one of the super easy ones like 'Click here if you're not a robot' or I saw a super fun one once that was like 'Select the ingredients to make hot chocolate"
