I could never understand the appeal of skip beat. It became an overblown party of cliches with characters that lack appeal. I don't mind cliche stuff but if it continues like a cycle again and again for 200+ chapters, it gets really old. And I don't know if the heroine is really that strong; I'd call her opinionated with an annoyingly loud voice and attitude.

The shoujo I truly hate though is itazura na kiss. I can't stand the guy. The girl chases him but gives up 3-4 times but in his arrogance he convinces her to try again, only to go back to hating her every single time. Finally he gets with her but never bothers to explain why even though he liked her all this time, he never went for it. Even when they're married, he acts like this distant figure who is like "oh, you're still here?" or "do you want something?"

Kaichou wa maid-sama was good until chapter 50ish. After that it just got old. Same for Usotuski lily. Not usually for gender benders but the characters were fun, gags funny, and the cross dressing incidents were entertaining...until like chapter 40. Unlike the mangaka behind kaichou though, who knew when to end it before it truly got bad, she just continued with lazy, filler like material with too many chapters about the side characters and 4-koma comics.

I like special A in small doses. Their idiocy is funny and Kei is so awesome when he's jealous. It's great that although he has everything, he has eyes for this dense girl with a lot of spirit.

Black bird..no. I'll take a weak naive girl but I won't take a weak, naive girl without a personality. Stepping on roses and faster than a kiss were good for a while but the endings absolutely sucked. I wouldn't have read those two if I knew how it ended. They were so bad, they ruined the entire manga.

Definitely Hiyokoi. I don't need to give a reason.

Black Bird - got boring
Kaichou wa maid-sama - got boring
Special A - It's just stupid in my opinion
Shugo Chara! - Hated the concept. Never read it.
Koi dano Ai dano - I just can't even attempt this one.... I think I'd have to be given something I want in order to ever attempt it.
You're So Cool - ridiculous
Moe Kare!! - Pretty much anything by IKEYAMADA Go irritates/bores me.
Ingènuo - Couldn't get past a chapter

Kimi Ni Todoke and Suki tte Ii na yo started getting boring chapters ago so even though I liked the beginnings I don't think I'll ever finish them.

Kaichou wa Maid-sama - I didn't find it boring, but I was irritated by how Misaki is supposed to be a strong female character yet needs rescuing by Usui at every turn - and even more irritated by how people buy into this. I was also irritated by Usui's perfection & how he has no life outside of Misaki, also by the

10-year separation at the end.

Lovely Complex - Bored me, couldn't get past a few chapters. I read another by the same author in full and didn't like it either, but I've forgotten the name.

Kimi Ni Todoke - Boring, couldn't get past a few chapters.

Good Morning Call - The most formulaic, vanilla shoujo I've ever encountered (though I'm not sure that it's popular/well-known).

Kyou, Koi wa Hajimewasu or anything by this author.

Teacher's Pet or anything by this author.

Anything that, like the two above, feature an aggressive guy who rapes/abuses the girl. With the possible exception of Haou Airen since I view that less as a romance than

. That being said, I'm not going to re-read Haou Airen.

In Ouran's defense, I love it. smile The mangaka does have a cluttered style but that doesn't bother me.

Popular shoujo I dislike.... let see... Vampire Knight is my first answer^^"
. I don't know why, maybe it just don't suit my taste, so I drop it asap when I found out the main lead is more and more irritating for me. I wonder why people like this manga very much.... Well, but each person have a different taste, so maybe that's why^^/

Next, perhaps Uwasa no Midori-kun (this is somewhat popular in my place) ^^" But this one... I dislike the ending, because the main lead isn't end up with the one I want. I just feel so empty. Some of my friends do feel the way I feel. So, this one is totally because the main lead end up with the different person.

So many! I stopped reading all of these:

Ao Haru Ride and Vampire Knight because of the love triangles.
Skip Beat and Kimi ni Todoke were way too slow and dragging.
Bokura ga Ita and Mars had unnecessary melodrama.
Gakuen Alice, Mairunovich, Honey Hunt, and Stepping on Roses pissed me off so much (weak females)
Say I love you was too smutty.

I did finish Fruits Basket, but I didn't like the manga at all. I wish I would have just stopped with the anime. Drama overload and the couples sucked (same with Hana Yori Dango) Oh and I loathed Hot Gimmick with a passion... that was seriously the worst ending ever.

Hibi Chouchou. I love the art. But a piece of toast has most personality than Suiren does.

Absolute Boyfriend with a passion-- I read MOST of it but it never grabbed my attention and just seemed to drag on...yes the ending was unexpected but the rest of the whole thing sucked. Even the mangaka admitted she couldn't decide who the MC was going to end up with and the MC was so indecisive and annoying:/

Kyou, Koi wo Hajimemasu. Blegh dead. Dropped it when I saw what kind of person the male MC was.

I do not like skip beat or kitchen princess. I actually only read kitchen princess because I heard one of the main guys die.

Kimi Ni Todoke (honestly it seems to me that the bgs get more screentime and some of the scenes are just way too slow! ) ...

Kimi Ni Todoke was so sweet though! I loved how the "villains" were not to evil and every one became friends in the end.

Same here. I'm okay with ridiculous cliche shoujo, but that male MC was awful.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
He relentlessly persuaded her for months and when she finally told him she liked him he dropped her completely. All because of 'mommy issues'. I am sick of that cliche. I would love for there to be a book where the guy had issues with his mother, but he still treats women with complete respect.

I also really didn't like Hajimari no Niina. I usually don't like those kind of age differences but also

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
I never really felt like he loved her for who she was. It always seemed like he loved her because she was Chitose reincarnated. And Niina herself never got a separate identity away from Chitose.

I also didn't care much for Acchan/Chitose.

I tried reading Orange Marmalade, because it was popular. But, wow. I hated it. I usually like 99% of shoujo heroines, but I hated the lead in this one. So unlikable.

Ao Haru Ride, Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun, Hirunaka no Ryuusei, Kimi ni Todoke, Ookami Shoujo to Kuro Ouji, and that one about a class rep who works at a maid cafe.
