Since we had an alcohol poll recently, Senrosj suggested that we talk about smoking too. I guess next week can be a poll about the substances you've smoked...

You can submit poll ideas here
http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=3903

Previous Poll Results:
Question: New series you're trying. You hate the main character but like the other aspects of the series. Continue reading?
Choices:
Stop reading, as this just ruins it for me - votes: 584 (11%)
Unlikely, as I can't probably can't fully enjoy the series - votes: 1441 (27.1%)
I'll keep trying in hopes that the main character improves - votes: 2739 (51.4%)
Yes, the other stuff is more important to me - votes: 562 (10.6%)
There were 5326 total votes.
The poll ended: March 10th 2018

Looks like most of us will still give it a shot in the hopes of improvement. Now I wonder how many of you would drop the series once you realize the main character doesn't improve.

No, never have and never will. A little reminder of the problems in which cigarette is involved: myocardial infarction and generally all the vascular problems like cerebrovasular accident, the lung, mouth, throat, esophagus and bladder cancer, alzheimmer, âge-related macular degeneration, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, multiple sclerosis and probably other that I don't remember.

Also, the lung cancer is the deadliest cancer in total in France while not being the most frequent. It's very dangerous. 80% of cancers are caused by cigarette.

TLDR: don't Smoke, it's shit. Well do whatever you like though, it's your choice to make.

I don't smoke, one bad habit which is sitting in front of computer all the time is enough...

It's hard to stop smoking. Until now, I barely can't stop instead its the opposite what I'm currently doing

No, but I've tried it before just to see how it is here and there. I would say that i smoked about a dozen cigarettes between the age of 6 and my mid 20s. I always hated them and they cost an arm, so no smoking for me. I even stopped accepting them if offered.
Joints also have tobacco, so that they can burn properly, yet they equally suck.

No, and never will. You see, I have a cigarette burn mark on my hand. A reminder when I was 4-5yo (or younger), sitting on my uncle's lap and he smoked... the ash fell on my hand. And last year, my grandma died because of lung cancer because her whole life she was surrounded by smokers, my grandpa and uncle. I don't like smokers, especially those who smoked at public places. I don't care if they are ruining their own body, but the smoke is also effecting the surrounding people who inhaled it (passive smokers). Very irresponsible.

Never ...and I avoid smokers, walk around them ...and despise people who think they are entitled to smoke anywhere and everywhere (with no cares for no-smoking signs, or others being stuck there). That they have the right to poison/stink the air, ignoring any rights of anyone else, to breathe non-toxic air...
I accept that quitting smoking is extremely hard, but... Smoking is not a human right.
...and no, the mist from e-cigarettes, isn't any different (maybe a bit _less_ toxic, but still significantly toxic ...except maybe not, if you're using a nicotine-free "juice")

I prefer it, when people use snus. No one dies, from second hand snus-ing (as there is no such thing). The only one impacted, is the person doing it.

No, but I've tried it before. I hate the smell and it fu__s up my taste buds, hate the taste.
Only time I may do it now, is the time when I drink with friends, which is also a very rare occasion.
I do weed with friends sometimes (very few and not seldom) though. Bongs are my thing, smooth. Else Joints works as well.
As for verdict, Tobacco SUCKS!! It Tastes and Smells Crappy. Don't do it kids.

Does Ecig/Vape count? Never did the like real stuff.

And I've only done menthol of those. Honestly I could do without. Just the cooling sensation of the menthol is nice.

Unusually for this site, I'm an old man (70). Half or more of the population of the USA smoked when I was young, and you could do it anywhere. I started at age 18, and quit 15 years later, for good. It's hard, but doable if a person is determined.

No, but I've tried it before. When I was a senior in high school I tried it a few times, never finished a cigarette on my own, smoked less than 5 in total. It tastes like shit, but the smell of a few (not sure which, probably the blue ones, 'cause those were the ones my father smoked) are kind of nostalgic. My dad used to smoke about 3 packs of cigarettes every day and, well, he died of lung cancer with metastasis to the brain, stomach and a few other places when I was 13. I tried it to see how it was and made the decision to never smoke again.

It tastes like shit, makes you smell a lot, kills you and it costs a ton, so why would you do it in the first place? I can understand it if you just want to see what it's like, and I guess that if you like it, you may continue smoking, but the family members that still smoke do it when they are stressed out. I remember when my dad got hospitalized and diagnosed with lung cancer with metastasis, my uncle and my aunt (my dad's siblings) smoked again even though they had already stopped. The sad thing is that my mom probably still smokes.

Anyways, when someone close to you dies due to smoking, you keep it away like the plague. I don't despise smokers, but if you smoke in public, I'll curse you a lot in my head. Smoke in your house and that's fine, but don't do it in public. And smokers should take into account how many people in their family got cancer. In mine, my father and one of his brothers died of cancer, an uncle and an aunt from my mother's side also died of cancer, so if you know you might be at risk of developing cancer, take care of yourself.

I grew up during a time when people still smoked on airlines. When I was 10 I had many friends who were already stealing a cig or two from their parents and by the time they were in high school had already developed a habit for smoking. My grandfather died when I was eight from lung cancer. He picked up smoking in WW2 when cig companies used to give American soldiers free packs. He was over six feet tall and solid as an oak, but cancer whittled him down to nothing. When you see that as a kid and the pain of my family it was easy to say no thanks to people that offered me free cigs as I grew up. Nearly 1/2 million people in the USA still die every year due to tobacco or second hand smoke and this is after legislation and campaigns to reduce usage. Hopefully, we will get it down to zero someday and maybe we can also reduce some of the other crazy stuff we have here.

Nope, and I've never tried it either. I was offered a cigarette when I was like 10 and hanging out with my cousin who's a year older. And I was just like, ew, why would I want to smoke? I never understood the appeal. I try to avoid smokers as much as I can. But crazily enough, I've had dreams where I was smoking, so who knows what that's about.

Totally agree. My grandfather died when I was 8 from lung cancer. I only remember him being sick. Have never tried and never will.
