Everywhere there are sexual allegation claims. Everyday there is one popping up somewhere. You would first think it might be somewhat recent but most are at least 10 years old. Why did they wait that long?

We wait because in most cases we don't have support from society (primarily men, but also women) in believing us. It hurts to be assaulted and it hurts when everyone says you're lying.
People who assault in most cases know how to disguise their shitty side they have, when they're blatant the society makes excuses "it's the way they are" (that's not a fucking excuse).
But all this contributes to why we wait. We're conditioned to think no one will believe us. If no one will believe us, support us, or even worse knows about it and agrees with it it's really hard to speak up.
When someone knows there's a high risk they'll be alone against the rest of the world it is a lot safer (be it physical or mental safety) to first digest everything that happened and somewhat be over with it before you speak up, so that comments you get later hurt you less.
And I'm using "we" because I was assaulted as well. I was fortunate enough to have friends I knew they'll believe me so I spoke, but in a limited circle of friends and with limited information because it became pretty clear that even my friends were having a hard time of not using phrases like "why the fuck didn't you get away faster": I didn't need some telling me what I should have done (I know that full well, but I also know that in stressful situations when someone feels cornered you react differently than usually) I needed healing... maybe I still do.
So yes, most allegations are real. Some are probably fake, cause we as people, in general, are shitty... but most allegations are real.
I'd also like to point that many men are assaulted as well but we're not at the point where men would feel comfortable to speak about it (cause you know "men can't be assaulted" mindset). I'm personally familiar with a few cases, and one recent famous one would be what Katy Perry did at American Idol recently...

I don't think most men realize how often sexual assault happens. Now I am in college, most of the friends that I have have been harassed or assaulted in some way.
A year ago my good friend reported her boyfriend that raped her, the process was absolutely awful. She lost a lot of friends because they thought 'it wasn't a bug deal' or she had 'asked for it' by dating him or that it didn't happen because he was 'too nice of a guy' in their experience, some stopped talking to her because they didn't want to have to deal with it. Even people she didn't know were gossiping about her and calling her a liar. And the college police put down false information on her report and closed her case, and then admitted later that they had not reviewed all her evidence before closing it. The worst part is? She was lucky enough to get a lawyer to help her do an actual criminal case, he said that she definitely had enough evidence to get a conviction, but he dropped her case anyways because 'there's no money in a rape case.'
My point is this is what many people go through when they report sexual assault, and that's why they don't. Either no one in authority thinks it is serious enough to do anything about it, or they themselves get treated like liars and criminals after having just gone through serious trauma, it's a lot of mental stress. And then people treat them horribly. Not to mention many people are ashamed to talk about it, because they feel like it is their own fault. Which isn't helped by the awful people out there who will say that it is their fault.
And this is not the only friend this has happened to, college sexual assault is really frequent because colleges cover them up to protect their reputation, especially if the perpetrator is an athlete. And as long as they continue to do this, people who commit sexual assault will know that they can keep doing it without any consequences. And if this shit gets so thoroughly covered up in colleges, imagine how it is in industries that are way more powerful.
The movement to stop this shit it long overdue. This thread will do nothing but make sexual assault survivors feel like garbage and discourage them from speaking out; the idea that the reports could be faked is not new, everyone is aware of it.

It seems no one realized there are specific forum sections dedicated to manga and anime. This was posted in the chatter box section where you can post anything that does not belong in any of the already set sections like what is going on in the news today or whats happening in your life etc. Just think of this as an exchange of opinions and ideas among the anime and manga community regarding the topic.

I seen and heard a lot of those cases where women lie about rape. From what I I seen they did it to get back at their boyfriend who recently dumped her for another girl. It was consensual then but since they broke up its rape. I am not defending the males side but not all girls are nice. Some girls literally ruined the possibility of what their boyfriend could become just with their threats alone. With some males you can easily tell who is bad he probably did it and no way he would do that because of their character and personality. Even those males are accused of rape. What absurd about this whole thing is without assessing the girl's character a bunch of women stand up in blindly supporting her protesting etc creating chaos for the so called accused . In the end we don't really know who is telling the truth.
