This week's poll from Transdude1996 is a bit strange... The different options reflect fictional characters versus your real life. It does help to do a quick Google of what waifu / husbando really mean.

You can submit poll ideas here

Previous Poll Results:
Question: Which interrobang?
Choices:
!? - votes: 2435 (42.6%)
?! - votes: 3280 (57.4%)
There were 5715 total votes.
The poll ended: June 9th 2018

When I was a scanlator many years ago, I exclusively used !?

Seeing as I have no intention ever finding an IRL wife/husband, it goes without saying that the fictional equivalent holds even less appeal for me. I've never once developed a fetish or obsession of the sort that other people often seem to harbour, whether towards fictional characters or real-life people, no matter how much I like them. It's just not in me to put someone on a pedestal like that.

There are characters I'm attracted to. They are either really hot or have traits that I would like in my significant other, but I would never call them a waifu, at least in the sense that I'm obsessed and believe I'm in a relationship with them.

And for me having a waifu would only be painful. I mean, being in love with someone you can't touch or interact with seems pretty crappy to me. Though I guess you could imagine encounters with your waifu/husbando. Still, it's not the same.

Waifu/husbando according to wiktionary means a female/male character you are attracted to. In that sense I would have a decent harem. A character that I romantically love type of waifu, I don't have one and I doubt I'll ever have one.

As for IRL wife, I think I would like to have one, but at the same time I don't and I'm currently leaning a bit more towards, "I'll never find someone I care so much I'd want to make her my wife." Marriage being shitty due to the legal baggage you might have to deal with if you divorce, is also not appealing.

Well i prefer manga where main characters are already in relationship and i don't like love triangles. So it is only RL for me because of that.

Bachelor + Student here. It's the high time of life.
So, the most plausible option for me from the poll is - Have yet to find one.
And definitely not looking for one anytime soon.
As for augmented one, not sure really. Never gave it a thought for real.

I only seek to pursue IRL relationships and this thread is destined to be a shitshow, if a discussion actually starts.

Lol. I'm going to be brave and say... I have both husbandos and waifus. And yes, those 's' are suppose to be there. Ahem.... But it's like on and off. I only remember them when I see them in a new chapter. And when I happen upon 'reader-view' doushinjis cough.

I'm not opposed to the idea of having a waifu or husbando but I mostly read romance manga and I'm more into rooting for the relationships between characters rather than trying to insert myself in the situation.

I absolutely loathe that the only thing so many people talk about is who they ship characters with, and it bothers me even more when they ship themselves with those characters.

I'm all about the characters when it comes to a story, so it pains me to see those characters reduced, by fans of a show, to nothing more than lovebait garbage like this. It makes it impossible to even talk about any character in a show because people just stop and have this verbal masturbation of "ooooh, yeeeessss, mai waifuuuuu!"
It pisses me off! mad
Especially because these characters, often times, deserve so much more recognition than that, and are worthy of even a modicum of more in-depth discussion... but any time somebody evokes "waifu" or "husbando", I just immediately check out of the conversation. I can't talk to people like that in an intelligent manner.

For example: I was getting into My Hero Academia, and I was talking about it with my friend, I told him Asui was probably my favorite character in the show, and was about to explain what I like about how she's written, and the aspects of her personality, but they instead just cut me off and said "Hey, hands off! That's mai waifu!"
They were mostly just joking about it, but still! This kind of thing just saddens me. no

It bothers me to no end, and it continues to defile anime and manga, and much of the culture surrounding lots of shows... diluting them into cheap, vapid material for people to pleasure themselves to. This is so frustrating, too, because of the potential of the respective mediums. They can be so much more than that!

Stop ruining things for the rest of us, you freaking sickos! embarrassed

I second this. Seeing so many anime/manga characters (alas, especially those that belong to the shounen category) being reduced to stereotyped otome characters annoys me very much.
I also can't stand fanon pairings. I strongly believe in respecting other people's views and desires, but that doesn't restrain me from having my own opinions. As of now, I can't understand people fantasizing over Midoriya and Todoroki or all the Haikyuu characters romantically liking each other. And that makes me sad because this way they diminish the meaning and the message of the manga/anime. For instance, Haikyyu talks about friendship, teamwork, hardships and hardwork, but many fans reduce all that to a mere physical attraction between the boys. It seems like they are always seeking romantic/sexual content and they want to find it also where there is none. As I said before, everyone is free to do whatever they want as long as they don't harm anyone else, but to be honest, I think that kind of behaviour is counter-productive for both the fans who fantasize over them and the rest of the public. In fact, the former can't appreciate entirely the manga/anime and don't reflect on themes as important as - or even more important than - love, while the latter has to see their favourite characters being used and abused like that.

Lighten up guys! Manga and anime are predominantly read by adolescents and young men and women. As I recall, love and sex are the main things on the mind of these age groups, so it's natural that they would fantasize about relationships of characters a lot—or even about having a love relationship with one of the characters.

If there were a manga category for middle-aged people, you'd probably get a lot less of this concentration on love and sex.

I can't stand yaoi fangirls, they ruin some of my favourite anime with their bizarre ships.
I despise it when people drop and give a manga a bad rating when their ship doesn't go canon.
I also dislike it when people are very obsessed with waifus and diss real people as trash.
