achyif suggested that we repeat a poll from a few weeks ago but change the question to the opposite. What's the least import feature of a scanlation?

Color (or grayscale) balance seems least important. Fonts, keeping up with the raws (not all scanlations are recent) or complex redraws arenĀ“t of importance to me too. I again just want a good translation that sticks to the original script.

After a lot of contemplation between the first option and the last two, I decided to go with "fonts," but I also don't care much about the gap between raws and scanlation or vol vs mag so long as the image quality is good, the translations are accurate with readable English, and there aren't months-long gaps between releases. But still, font style is definitely the least important to me.

Difficult to choose between the last two. Sometimes there are huge differences between volume and magazine raws, in which case I'd vastly prefer the former. Speed of release isn't that important, but again it depends on how fast/slow it is.
Volume vs magazine raw is rarely a problem if the quality of the scans is similar, so I vote for the last one mmm...

There's a detail with fonts that one only sometimes see, and it's the case when they change fonts to express a different type of voice like in Youjo Senki (in a part already covered by the anime)
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
we see when Tanya is making the advance notice that they are going to destroy the factory other font is used to show she switched to a childish voice.
oouf as a cleaner/redrawer this was a tough one cos they're all pretty important.
Fonts are important; You don't wanna be reading manga with comic sans fonts do you?
Colour balance is important; Pure black and white is the best way. You don't want off black/white tones it looks nasty.
Image resolution; don't want small ass images. Makes reading a pain in the ass. Similarly you don't want it too big cos it'll take a while to download the page!
Readability and accurate translation is very important in order not to lose the original meaning that the mangaka intended on and to, well, actually understand what's going on.
Lack of artifacts; jpg artifacts on manga is disgusting. Horrible little pixels all around the images. nononononono
redrawing; as a redrawer myself, I take pride when I do a redraw so well you can't even tell it's been redrawn.
volume vs mag raws; aha this one is interesting considering most are going digital these days. Volume raws are always guaranteed to give you the best possible quality (depending on how good your cleaners are of course) but yeah most people are impatient and don't want to wait for the good raws so they just work on whatever they can get their hands on. Digital raws when they first came out were terrible. Low res, jpg artifacts everywhere, scaled down. I think they've gotten a bit better since? I'm not 100% sure I don't work on digital raws anymore. You can still make it work though.
In the end I went for speed of release between raw and scanlation because it's nothing to do with the actual quality of the release itself. Regularity of releases isn't as important either I don't feel. It's always nice to get them quicker sure, but it's not an important quality.
I guess it depends on the series. For the weekly shounen jump releases, I suppose this is important but that's a very small minority of manga.

Yet again, readable translation is more important than accurate translation. Heh.
