I'm sorry, but you can't fight the inevitable. This will be trash or completely different than the original work. That's how these things work.

manga hollywood adaptations are about as successful as video game adaptations.

I agree with that
There are some very good Hollywood comic adaptation (eventhough they totally change everything), the latest X-men (Wolverine) movie is pretty good. Even Dark knight. I have mixed opinions on these kind of adaptations.

but for the record, they fail at making J-anime-games-manga ---> movie adaptation
Dead or alive...streetfighter...and who would forget Dragonball!? dead

but srsly, why would they want to cast Zac Efron in FMP? I heard there's rumours of him being casted in American remake-Death note.
