Like the title says, I’m looking for series that focus on non-romantic age gap relationships, preferably between unrelated or distantly related people!

It can be a guardian/parental-type relationship, a mentor-type relationship or just a friendship. As for the age of the characters, idc! It can be between an adult and a kid, a older kid and a younger kid, an older adult and a younger adult, etc.

I prefer series set in modern/recent day, with no sci-fi/supernatural/fantasy elements (unless it’s really good). Romance is okay if it’s not the focus and doesn’t occur between the main characters. Slice of life is a plus!

Series like Flat, Barakamon, Watashi no Shounen, Yotsubato!, The Children’s Teacher Mr. Kwon, and to a lesser extent, Jeoseung Go, Itsuya-san, Chichi to Hige Gorira to Watashi, and My Girl are what I’m looking for.
Something like Usagi Drop (it like it’s hot), Stay Gold, Taiyou no Ie, or Mahoutsukai no Yome is a no for me.

I know I’m being really picky, so thanks in advance! ?

Madoromi-chan ga Iku. This one is set in modern-day but the daughter has horns for some reason. It's not really relevant to the plot though and it's never explained why. It's a nice slice of life kind of like Yotsubato.

Somali to Mori no Kami-sama This one is fantasy but I encourage you to give it a shot because it's really good. It centers around a human child and a golem mentor/father figure.

Baby, Kokoro no Mama ni!
Gohan Shiyo! maybe
Hayachine! maybe
Hisohiso -Silent Voice- (some supernatural elements)
Shimanami Tasogare
Shirogane no Nina
Working Holiday

And, uh, I guess Obaa-chan to Game might fit? Though it's definitely more about gaming than about relationships.

EDIT: Oh, and Kyoukai Senjou no Rinbo could fit. Though it takes place in a fantasy setting, it's predominantly slice-of-life.

EDIT 2: Oh, yeah, and Golden Kamuy definitely has this, though it's an action/adventure manga, not a SoL. Candy & Cigarettes is in a similar vein.

Nicola no Oyururi Makai Kikou might be worth a look too, as it's kind of in the vein of the previously mentioned Somali. It's a fantasy in which a human and a nonhuman travel together. Oh, and if I remember correctly, there's some of this in Saturn Apartments too, though it's a sci-fi.

And I can't believe I forgot this the first time, but Sumikko no Sora-san definitely fits all your requests.

Metamorphose no Engawa looks like it would fit, though I haven't read it yet.

Ditto for Like a Butterfly (Hun) and Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu.

Sodatechi Maou! - Even though it's supernatural/fantasy-themed it's still entirely SoL.

Similar to that:
Alice to Zouroku
Totsukuni no Shoujo
Maou Kyoudai
Udon no Kuni no Kiniro Kemari
Papa to Arukou
Corseltel no Ryuujutsushi and its sequels.

Purely SoL:
Boku Wa Ne
Oushitsu Kyoushi Haine
Shounen Maid - Uncle and nephew, but they'd never even seen each other before, so...
