Who finds this acceptable?!? It's not funny, it's not humorous. In fact, it shows how little respect you have for the medium. And, don't have anyone come in here and stating "Ah, you're just upset over a couple of joke pages." FUCK OFF! If the translator wanted to create joke pages, then have them as "post-credits" pages at the end of chapter. Not THE pages of the chapter. No one found it acceptable when Working Design butchered hundreds of games. No one finds ADV and Funimation changing the scripts to joke dubs and political statements to be acceptable, so why are people allowing this?

Censorship sucks, for whatever reason. Believe me, once started, it mushrooms. I am actually old enough to remember the '50s! Back then, censorship of even the mildest sexual material was routine. It took years of resistance and paying attorney's fees by activist publishers for two literary works well known elsewhere, "Ulysses" and "Lady Chatterly's Lover", to overcome government censorship, then justfied as being for the sake of "decency", and finally get openly published in the USA in the mid '60s.

I saw this when it came out, and it's just one of those things you can't really be mad about. I mean, you can be, but it won't change anything. In all honesty, if it's a new series, the best thing you can do is stop reading before you get too much into it.

I don't find this acceptable, I find it despicable, really, but there's nothing I can do except move on. No "movement" will stop people from doing this.

You can't stop them from butchering translations, true... but you can create a competing scanlation with accurate translations, if you care enough about the series. "If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself.", as they say.

Heh.......so you're asking if there's a way to bar people from being trolls on the internet, right?

Ahahahaha! Oh my God, you just made my morning, thanks a lot for that, I really mean it ?

Ah well, I know you're just blowing off steam, just ignore me (but really, that was freaking hilarious) ?

Yeah, at first, you think it's funny. That these people are just joking around and "trolling" people.

User Posted Image

Then you see these same people are dead serious about it.

User Posted Image

That they destroy works and then try to say that they "improved" upon the creators original vision.

User Posted Image

And, anyone who objects is a bigot.

User Posted Image

Do you want me to pull up numerous articles defending the translation disasters of games such as Fire Emblem Fates, or how about the witch hunt that took place when Atlus personally translated Persona 5.

User Posted Image

Let me even bring up that this particular translator in question doesn't see anything wrong with what he's doing, telling people piss off if they don't like how he's adding spice to the story (And has done this a few times actually), and even stated that he's not that interested in manga.

And, you're telling me that bull like this is all just a joke, and that I should just laugh and move on?

1) No, I know it's just someone trolling people because you're acting exactly how someone does when they let a troll get to them..........like this is some big, earth-shattering deal that just has to be met with outrage >_<

2) Yes, I'm telling you it's all just a joke and move on.......or, you know, scanlate it yourself and do a better job ?

* Oh, and now that I look closer, this title looks like absolute drivel, why are you even getting this worked up over it? O_o

Because, probably just like everyone else, I don't want to have to do additional work just so that I can digest entertainment.

Like you said, "or, you know, scanlate it yourself and do a better job", which is something I'm attempting to do. However, let's look at what this entails. I have to spend the next 5-10 years of my life learning one of the hardest languages on the planet just so that I can finally consumer media without having to worry about translators throwing in their fanfiction or filling the script with memes and thinking it's funny. How does that sound reasonable?

And, yes, the series may be drivel. So what? Does that mean that it should be treated with any less respect than "higher caliber" series such as One-Punch Man or Death Note or Girls' Last Tour? And, all because you say so? Many men and women have lead their companies to ruins by hopping on that train, and missed out on all the potential money they could have made by filling that niche. And, overall, what is wrong with how I may want to read a shitty romance, ambient, erotica series? You don't have to read it.

And, I highly doubt that you'd accept the same low level of standards if they were applied to the trash NTR doujins that you upload. Admittedly, I may have blown things a little out of proportion, but it's hard to actually know when one does that when no one is listening to complaints existing in the first place. So, "tiny things" just become another issue to add to the much larger issue that no one wants to address, and, when things do "blow up", people end up asking "What happened?" and sweep it under the rug as "not a big issue".

You want to know what my overall problem is? It's the people in charge of media in the West. They're doing their damnedest to make everything political when no one wants that. So, the public then turns to alternative media, the most common of which is Japanese media. And, their response is to then write all about how anime is sexist, you're sexist for wanting it, and that it should all be made illegal if you love your grandma, puppies, and rainbows. Or, they take direct involvement in the matter and seek to influence the very media itself, at the source, in Japan or just ban the official release of it altogether.

And, as far as independent translators, like the one of this series, they end getting hired at localization companies and assigned to translating media because they're far too incompetent or untrustworthy to translate products of "real worth" such as business material. The sad fact is, people couldn't be any more wrong on the issue. Have you ever read/heard works such as The Idiot, The Magic Mountain, or The Divine Comedy? Works that define the cultures they came from, add the to greater identity of the world at large, and makes us question as to why we are here? How would you feel about Prince Myshkin cracking slangs, boasting about how he's young and an intellectual, he just got off the train from Switzerland, the doctor tried to cure his epilepsy but he couldn't so he's always living on the edge, going to visit his relative "Aunty Prokofyevna", and just heard about this hot dame called Nastásya Philíppovna? It insults the story, it's readers, it's author, it's home country, and the very art of literature and translation itself. People would be outright furious. They'd be grabbing pitchforks and wanting to hunt down the person who delivered this insult upon the world. You thought you saw hatred the day idiots on Reddit decided to destroy an Xbox development kit, or give the source code of Starcraft to Blizzard in exchange for useless temporary trash. OH, you wouldn't ever see a larger amount of anger than would be the one present on that day. And, I'd be right there with them calling for the guy's dismissal (And I didn't even find any enjoyment when reading the damn thing).

And, the translator would, in his defense, just say that he was trolling everyone. It's not his fault that people can't take a joke about some random old novel. If they really cared that much, then they should take the time to learn Russian.

Respectable scalation groups that deserve your time won't do it so stick to those.
It sucks when you can't read what you want to read because of something like that, but you can't do anything about it tbh.

I remember reading an April fool's chapter about Bane. I didn't watch Batman at the time so you can imagine how confused I was when some tiny school girl said she wanted to be some "Bane" when she grows up.

Honestly we can't really complain cause we are consuming a medium that technically isn't available where we live. So we don't really have a say in the matter. We can only stop when we don't want something.

Everyone has their own groups they try to avoid for various reasons. Should others not be able to read their releases because I don't like chibi manga? No, of course not.

Really the only thing you can do is suck it up or leave it.

Yeah...
Unless someone wants to add something, it's a dead issue.

There used to be a thing called "rewrites" in the hentai scene, where (mostly) one-shots were re-written to have new dialogue. Those were all shit of course and they weren´t counted as scanlations.

The tread itself is a nightmare BUT totally inaccurate translations still need to be pointed out. I don´t think that this particular translation is overall a total invention and thus worthy of purger from the database. It´s more importantly not a new thing. Multiple fully licensed Tokyopop translations were much wilder. Ikkitousen and even better Battle Royale are prime examples, as the last one changed -dare I say improved- the plot and tone in a major way. Long story short, Ciaran Hillock freestyle dialogue is par for the course for the scene. Especially if i consider how bad MangaStream can get...
