I'll be 47 this year, and have been married for over 15 years. Don't have any kids, and don't want any either. Never liked kids, even though people always told me I would feel different if it were one of my own. Sorry, but no thanks. Luckily, my wife is fine with having none, and we're perfectly happy with it just being the two of us.

It's different to ask a woman before and while pregnant.

I'm one of the few that voted 5, though I'll very likely be having none...

That would imply that this "Clown World" is getting any better... The fact that people are A-OK with finding their partner these days but give a big no no to kids is just a societal failure. The thought that kids are merely seen as something time consuming and expensive luxury just says more about how entitled people are to their lifestyles. And how sad it is.

Well the fact that poverty is just defined in various ways nowadays makes these kinda statistics a bit worthless in my eyes. They could as well just pull random numbers out off their butts. I see people dumber than ever thanks to all this social media nonsense and companies getting greedier by the day when everything is about growth and not sustainability. People are just considered worthless replacable minions at this point... Sure the living standard has improved but I don't think everything is sunshine and roses.

Edit: Tbh the fact that our so called elite, the best earning and best educated ones, are the most children-averse is just absurd. So it's no wonder you have less and less people at the top and more and more at the bottom... But that's a whole different topic.

As of now, my answer is none. I won't lie, though: I'm an antisocial misanthrope and I come out of a serious depression that made me an hikikomori. I guess I'm in no mood for a relationship, let alone kids.

There are tons in there, I remember using to post poll ideas myself...
So there's no shortage on better poll ideas than this one. Better pull a poll from a couple years ago than the current poll.
My opinion, if you love this poll, that's your thing, but don't tell me I can't have an opinion.

Quote from Lorska
Almost half the people don't want any kids?

That's just sad. I don't even know what else to say. It's just sad.

It's not though? We already have so many kids in this world in need of being adopted. Why bring more into this awful world? We all have our reasons for not wanting kids. I don't want them because I can barely take care of myself and because of many other reasons which I choose to remain private.

There's nothing entitled about not wanting kids. The selfish ones are the people who expect everyone to breed. A non-existent child wants for nothing and never has to suffer. One can never have a child for that child’s sake.

Having kids is not the same as making kids. Also the adoption argument only works when there are actually so many kids being adopted that there is no need. The problem is the demand not the availability.

It's also totally normal to have reasons for not having kids. It's starts getting weird when half the people do though...

I said entitled to their lifestyles. Please don't put words in my mouth. One of the most common arguments is that kids take too much money and time so they're not worth it.

I don't think anyone here wants others to breed like rabbits. But if you can't appreciate a new life being born between you and your partner, or even adopting someone and giving them a future, sorry evolution and society failed.

That "if it doesn't exist it doesn't care" argument has to be the dumbest thing I've ever heard. By that logic it would be fine to blast your head off with a shotgun because you don't care when you're dead either. I also never heard that people want to make a child for the child's sake, so where did this even come from?

The issue I'm talking about isn't the fact that people have the choice to want or not want kids. It is their choice and their life. I'm talking about not wanting kids being a major social phenomenon or trend.

There's also the fact that, as cruel as it may sound, the tax benefits and social advantages are not what they used to be.

question of economy and time i'm afraid, if i was a multi millionare that could live without lifing a finger, then a lot probably 4+ since then i don't have a job and can focus on raising the little tykes & demons, now more reasonably with a job that makes me not able to spend all the time in the world with my children anything more then 2 would feel rough.

None..

This was a awkwardly tough question/poll to answer to. Also not quite the feel-able (dot appreciate...savvy?) for this particular community.

That's just my thoughts spoken aloud brother. No extra luggage. More money, time and effort to spend on and for yourself.
(Btw, I don't hate children. Just accompanying them all the time and responsibilities are no good. No chill is no good.)

It may not be the same as making a child but you can still connect with them as if they are your own. As they say, family isn't always by blood. The other issue with adopting is that it's not an easy task to adopt a kid. Regardless though, every person have the right to choose if they want kids or not. I don't find it weird at all.

Well I meant the poll was asking how many you would like to have not like to make, so the whole adoption argument was just pointless.

I totally agree that people should be able to have that choice. Again, it's fine that people can decide to have no kids, but something is seriously wrong when a major part of a society/community decides on that. That doesn't mean those people are at fault or anything, just that society has failed in one of its primary functions. Becoming a place where kids are wanted and protected.

In other words, it's not sad that some people don't want any kids. Its sad that we live in a world/society that facilitates having no kids to be more desirable than having them.
