This week's poll was suggested by Transdude1996. Pretty straightforward

You can submit poll ideas here
http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=3903

Previous Poll Results:
Question: What is (or would be) your Hogwarts house?
Choices:
Gryffindor - votes: 467 (13.1%)
Hufflepuff - votes: 643 (18.1%)
Ravenclaw - votes: 1044 (29.4%)
Slytherin - votes: 701 (19.7%)
I don't understand this question - votes: 697 (19.6%)
There were 3552 total votes.
The poll ended: October 18th 2019

On the official quiz within Pottermore, I got placed within Slytherin because I prefer to gain knowledge for the sake of using it rather than for the sake of knowing more.

Why is the thread title "End of the World"? 😁

Anyway, the answer to this question is almost too obvious: original works, all the way! Not like I won't read/watch adaptations, but it's always better to see something new.

Original works but the other 2 are equally valid choices.

Original

Adaptations of fictional works suffer from the people adapting the work trying to "correct" or alter the original, and adaptations of real events suffer from people exaggerating and/or downplaying certain facts and actions that result in the actual history becoming completely unbelievable and questionable. That's not to say all works are like that (Or whether they always improve the work or cause it to suffer), but I am noticing that a good amount are. Meanwhile, with completely original works, they live and die based on their quality and the creator's intention.

Original definitely.

Let just say there are too many "based on" and "remake" out there I don't feel those worth reading/watching anymore. It's literally reiteration of the same events/plots. There's only so many ways to do plot twist even Shyalaman has his limit.

Easily Original Works.

The entire reason I find myself on mangaupdates is because around 15 years ago now, I got completely sick of anime that were based on manga, ruining the content they were adapted from.

So, I do watch anime when it's original (code geass, gurren lagann, etc) but most of the time, there's an original manga to read instead.

Of course, when the original is a Light Novel, I do read that instead and totally skip even the manga adaptations (Haruhi, No Game No Life, etc).

Waaaiiit, why isn't there an answer option that says Don't care/not applicable?

* If someone never focuses on the origin of works, then why should it be something that someone would bother looking up?
* If it's the kind of thing someone would know because of reading a lot of surrounding content and social media, it's also perfectly possible to not have a preference!
* Or did y'all make this poll this way to draw me into actually making a comment on the current poll thread which I think I've only done once before? 😉 😁 😎

Has to be original for me... I don't like fan fiction and adaptations... Also tend to not like fiction based on real events (fine with documentary but not fiction)

I pretty much always go with the original version. If it was a novel I want the novel. If it was a manga I want the manga. If it was an anime I want the anime. I might look at an adaptation if it's something I like or if it's something I didn't realize was an adaptation, but almost always I go with the original.

This sums it up for me. Most of the time I get annoyed if the other media adaptation is different from the source. Sometimes I'll watch/read it but any previous read/watched work will be better most of the time for me.
