This week's poll wasn't technically from zeazea. zeazea suggested this idea, but the wording of this particular poll was developed by Lucky9, back in 2008. We're actually re-doing an old poll.

You can submit poll ideas here
http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=3903

Previous Poll Results
Question: What is the best way to do an anime adaptation of a long and currently ongoing manga series?
Choices:
Don't make an anime in the first place - votes: 282 (8.7%)
Individual anime with reboots of a longer length (with more material) every few years (like Hunter x Hunter) - votes: 119 (3.7%)
One series with a new season when there's enough new material (like Hajime no Ippo) - votes: 2603 (80.2%)
A single, constantly airing anime with filler, recaps, and delays to stay behind the the source material (like One Piece) - votes: 243 (7.5%)
There were 3247 total votes.
The poll ended: February 22nd 2020

People in the industry, take note of this result

I really don't care but releasing chapters/issues monthly is the best way to keep quality going and allowing the creators to have some time off.

In terms of manga, somewhere around 40-50 pages is the most you should go for, meanwhile less than 20 is the too little unless there's a lot going on in those sub-20 pages.

I chose I don't really care because whatever fits better the author is good. I mean in 4 komas it's just few pages, or just 1. But if the story is good I'll support it.
though I like chapters with several pages, I guess around 35 🤣

I really don't care because for one, ideal chapter length differs according to the type of series (yonkoma/gag does better with shorter and mystery, fantasy, etc. are better longer) and for another... I genuinely don't care, haha.

So I guess 25 pages mmm...

My favorite series has chapters that range in length from 20 pages up to 70 pages. So... However number of pages are needed to tell the story, not too much nor too little. In the end, it doesn't matter how many pages there are, it matters what the author fills them with. An almost equivalent story can be told in one bimonthly 60 page chapter vs three weekly 20 page chapters.

That said, it's extremely difficult to tell a well told complete story with a limited number of pages (especially when all the characters must also be introduced) in under 20 pages, so perhaps longer is better? The better poll question would be: how many volumes should an arc last?

I do read a lot more weekly series than anything else so I considered voting for the first option simply on an empirical basis, but ultimately I picked "I really don't care" because I don't find myself fatigued even by Q.E.D. full-case releases that are 90+ pages in one go.

I won't say I don't really care, but I think it depends on the genre and how often the manga releases new chapters. There is one series I read that releases a new chapter around every other month but the chapters are only 20~ pages, so it's super annoying.

i really don't care, if its 18 or 50 pages per chapter, the anxiety of waiting its the same. At the same time if the series is good or entertaining no matter how long the chapters are, it is not enough and you want more. at the same time as others had said the content is important, for example i am currently reading the gamer (i love it) and some chapters don't have content and to have to wait is frustrating.

I like shoujo length, around 35 pages. 45 is good, too. If I'm only getting a chapter a month, I want to read a lot!

I really don't care... as long as at the end of the chapter I feel some type of conclusion within the story; I don't mind the length. I read a lot of 4koma and they literally sometimes say 4-8 panels are a chapter!! At the same time many of the standard weekly 15-20pgs, don't feel conclusive because nothing really goes on in the story within the use of more pages (eg Eyeshield or Nisekoi). A chapter imo should be a showcase of explicit story progression if an author can do that in 1pg or 55pgs, good!
