Anyone know any manga similar to the story from American Idiot?

Spoiler (highlight to view)
The story from American idiot is; guy gets fed up with his home town and moves to city, city not all he made it up to be, meets a guy who takes him on the path of rebellion (including drugs), meets a girl who is a true rebel and they fall for each other, main character grows distant with rebel girl as she is a true rebel and he is a poser and they break up, rebel guy from earlier commits suicide (he was quite possibly a figment of the main character's imagination), main character goes home and gets a job but is filled with feelings of regret and longing for rebel girl. I'm fairly sure that's the story from American Idiot, but it may be a little off.

Not looking for anything exactly like this, not that that wouldn't be nice, but a good romantic tragedy similar to it would be nice. I would deeply appreciate any suggestions, even they'ren't what i'm looking for.

Looked up the movie since the name sounded familiar. I didn't even know it was tied to Green Day. eek eek

I think you could try:
Hello Baby
The Other Side of the Mirror
Sex
Some of the stories in Confidential Confessions

thank you for the recommendations, I liked hello baby and i'll check out The Other Side of the Mirror and Confidential Confessions when i get the chance, but i'm not sure where i could read Sex, is this series also known as 'Next Stop'?

Oh and the movie deal for American Idiot was scrapped, but a musical is planned to be released this September. (Is 'released' the right word for a musical?)

It's been a while but I think you would be interested in Ikebukuro West Gate Park and Sensen Spike Hills.
