So I saw this link in mangadex: https://www.sankakucomplex.com/2020/07/22/seven-manga-ser ies-expelled-from-australian-bookstore-as-child-pornograp hy/
And I saw that goblin slayer was listed there. Why😕? The manga never gave me the impression that it had such content. True there is rape in it but not in a way that is made for the pleasure of people reading it. Rather it just depicts it as a brutal and cruel act. I wonder if I'm mistaken or the people banning it are mistaken. What do you guys think?

Quote from Wefa
Why😕?

They're moral busybodies, simple as that. They don't care about context, or if what it is that they're spouting is actual fact. They just want something "evil" to point at as the cause of "all the world's problems" so that they can justify their existence in office. And, it's much easier to do that than solve the real problems that exist (Because solving them requires real action and they won't get the positive points on Twatter for it). Just read the politicians justification for it:

Quote from Connie Bonaros, SA Best member of the South Australian Legislative Council
If this action helps stop one child from being sexually abused, it is one child we have saved.

MEANWHILE, in reality (The place we all live in), porn has been a contributor to the universal drop in sexual assaults, and Denmark gave "cartoon paedophilia" their seal of approval after studies have shown it to be harmless.

Or, it could also be that the politicians have something to hide and are overcompensating to appear more pure than they really are. Like, that's never happened before.

I can confirm that the Goblin Slayer IP is loaded to the gills with rape service. Not so sure about outright, I guess, ephebophilia. Kind of a borderline case? At least not directly incorrect.
I always love it when porn sites are used as sources. Always leads to good discussions. And the source of the source is a Gamer Gate site. Lovely. Let Gamer Gate decide which products need to be carried by bookstores. Not the owners and employees! Can´t have that in the marketplace of ideas. And no, I wouldn´t stock this shit either. I have the qualifications to work in a bookstore so consider this a professional opinion.

Edit: Forgot I wrote a 2/10 review in the manga´s MU entry. "A Chad Meme come to life". Good one 2019 me.

What does this have to do with GamerGate?

The sourced article in the OP, the sources of the source, and the sources of the other sources never mention the consumer revolt movement, whatsoever. What are you talking about? A politician is calling for the censorship of media and getting the government involved, praising the accomplishments of her personal crusade despite the evidence showing that she's attacking the the wrong people, and you're first response is to go, "those pesky goober gators are getting what they deserve"? What is your problem? Do you not realize what's going on? The government is creating a witch hunt so that they can dictate the media that is allowed to be published, and you're first response is to SUPPORT it as an attempt to stick it to another group who doesn't have any involvement in the current actions taking place?

And you can't even argue that it was the store deciding what they wanted to sell as it was the politicians actions that forced them to remove the material due to government orders:
Quote from Kotaku Australia
Connie Bonaros, a member of the SA Best party, wrote to Kinokuniya raising complaints that the book retailer was selling “kiddie-porn manga”, according to a story posted in the Advertiser late Sunday night. The letter from Ms Bonaros prompted a reply from Kinokuniya’s vice president Keijro Mori, who confirmed that the retailer would pull seven manga series.
“Staff have been provided with updated special-order guidelines to ensure that these titles are no longer available to order into the store,” Mori told Bonaros. Mori confirmed that the books would be pulled from Kinokuniya’s Sydney store, and that the staff “are now tackling this issue as a team”.
...
“We are communicating with the Australian Classification Board about this issue, to better understand what content requires submission for classification,” the Kinokuniya Vice President said.
Ms Bonaros is a former chief of staff to South Australian senator Stirling Griff, who earlier this year called on the Classification Board to re-review the classification of all manga and anime in Australia. The senator went on to call for the ban of Sword Art Online: Extra Edition for “undoubtedly [featuring] the abuse of children”, and he grilled Classification Board director Margaret Anderson at a Senate Estimates committee over the classification over certain titles.

Thanks Transdude1996 for clarifying the matter. And I didn't get what the gamergate thing was about (I'll just google it).
What they are doing seems like a big hypocrisy to me. I mean books like game of thrones also contain inappropriate stuff. Also most of what they banned targets adult demographic while there are books like 'Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma' which targets teens and no one banned it (it's about incest and it's quite popular.)
I hope this case doesn't set a precedence to banning more manga

Edit: and the argument in this link : http://archive.is/BFJRL
seems flimsy. The link between rise of porn and fall of rape crimes is that of association and not causation.

I agree, more work should be put into studying it. However, we're never going to get more information out of it aside from random news pieces because why lose a tried and true tactic that has proved useful for nearly 250 years when it comes to needing something as the source of all the world's ills?
