This week's poll was suggested by jacob66. Would cooking an exotic meat in a familiar way make it more palatable for you to try eating?

You can submit poll ideas here
http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=3903

Previous Poll Results:
Question: Do you sleep next to your cell phone (i.e., within easy reach)?
Choices:
I don't own a cell phone - votes: 148 (4.7%)
Yes, and it is not silenced - votes: 946 (29.8%)
No, but it is still within hearing distance in case of a call - votes: 312 (9.8%)
No, it's not nearby, so I will not see/hear notifications until I wake up - votes: 301 (9.5%)
Yes, but it is in a silenced mode - votes: 1471 (46.3%)
There were 3178 total votes.
The poll ended: August 2nd 2020

I guess the next poll should be whether you use your phone as an alarm or not.

In general, no, but it depends. I wouldn't be opposed to trying some things like snake, alligator, kangaroo, and zebra meat. However, things like rats, mice, bugs, and other such vermin receive a solid "Hell no!" from me.

Same here. I've actually tried kangaroo, and it was tasty. But bugs, rats and other animals like dogs etc... no way. Just because it's possible to eat them doesn't mean I have to do it. There are limits.

I like to taste new things, I'm open to everything. Here in Spain we eat snails, prawns, mussels, frog legs,... so I see no difference to other things in other countries. If they eat it, I can try even in a not familiar way.

I'm a little confused by the question.... I put "sure, I'd try" but most of those things are things I'd eat in pretty much any situation where I was in a 1st-world culture that I knew was aware of the sanitary implications.

For example, if I were at some redneck's house and they butchered their random horse and tried to get me to eat that raw, I'd refuse. But I'd eat horse sashimi at a restaurant in Japan.

The only thing I'd refuse to even try in any situation are raw bugs. But I don't need it prepared in a "familiar way", any type of cooking is fine.

Edit: but as a caveat, if it smells bad to me I won't eat it no matter what either. The sniff is enough of "giving it a chance".

There are a lot of exotic meats, that I'd very much like to try ...but I'd not want them to be made in a more "friendly" manner that is supposed to make it easier to digest, for people who would otherwise be unwilling, but rather in a way that I'd properly get to taste what it's like.

Horse is good, but I'd also want to try snake, kangaroo, crocodile/alligator, dove, squirrel, and various others.

I would happily include eel, particularly those delicious looking Japanese eels dishes, if not for the fact that they are endangered (this applies to many more animals, as well. Like the above mentioned zebra) ...and no, "farmed" eels are no good, as they're still taken from the wild. No one has, as yet, found a way to get eels to breed in captivity.
Why Japan acts like eels aren't seriously endangered (much less bans/restricts catching them), I do not understand
...nor why they insist on hunting endangered whales (if they only hunted the non-endangered Minkes, that'd be fine. Pointless and useless, but nevertheless acceptable ...but they insist on still hunting endangered whales)

...but I'd be completely unwilling, under any circumstances, and regardless of how how they are prepared, to eat certain other animals, such as cats or dogs, or frogs, rats, mice, and especially not things like snail, mussels, insects and the like. (this, naturally, includes crustaceans, who are essentially insects of the sea)

Why am I okay with squirrels, but not rats/mice? Why not cats or dogs? (I'd happily eat rabbit/hare meat, whilst petting a rabbit/hare, so the pet thing shouldn't really be an issue)
That I cannot answer.

Depends on the meat. I’ve eaten alligator before but I’m not eaten no dog, snake, or bugs.

I am vegetarian so it's a no go for me! If I did still eat meat though probably
still wouldn't as I was never a big fan of meat besides chicken any way. 🙂

I'd try exotic meats even if it's not prepared in a familiar fashion, just so I can say I've tried it. Then again, I've been trying new things thanks to a friend and grasshoppers are really just crunchy...

As long as it doesn't smell weird I'd probably eat it... I ate ostrich meat once

Honestly, it depends on price and portion size - I'm normally up for trying a bite of something, but I am distressingly picky and 9 times out of 10 I'll end up disliking whatever it is. I don't want to spend money on an entree that I won't enjoy, and then have to either pay more for something else or leave hungry. If it's something small and relatively inexpensive, or if I'm with someone who I can split the food with, I'm much more likely to go for it.

No way.
I don't want to eat dogs.
Chicken, pork, and beef are alright, but not dogs. 😅

I've already had horse sashimi (really good) and snake wine (not so good).

I've also eaten kangaroo which probably counts as weird for people outside of australia.
