Ok, I started out reading Tsubasa, then I read XXXholic, and now I'm starting to read this. My question is: How closely related is this to the others? Does it reveal any insight to the other two stories? At all?

There isn't much crossover at all. CCS is a standalone story. The CCS characters are re-used in TRC, but are different people, except in one instance:

As best I can tell, and this is fuzzy... (Dont' read this if you haven't read through at least ch. 221 of Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle!)
Spoiler (highlight to view)
the CCS Sakura and Shaoran, which eventually show up in TRC, are TRC Shaoran's real grandparents. (Not the clone Shaoran from the beginning of TRC, but the later Shaoran that was being held in the tank initially by Fei Wang Reed.)

Apparently, in the original TRC universe timeline (which we don't know about until close to the end of the story), TRC Sakura & Shaoran lived their lives, but he hesitated at a particular moment, and that was going to cost TRC Sakura her life. At that point Yuuko froze time, and to let the scene be replayed, an alternate universe/timeline came to be, while that moment remained frozen, and a clone Shaoran and clone Sakura were created. (This also apparently created Watanuki in xxxHolic. I'm still fuzzy on some details there, as I haven't read xxxHolic.)

Because of TRC Shaoran's mistake, CCS Sakura gives up her staff and CCS Shaoran gives up the power of Clow to Yuuko to pay for TRC Shaoran's mistake and help him re-live it to make the right choice and save TRC Sakura.

In the meantime, because the clone Shaoran and clone Sakura shouldn't have existed and would return to nothingness once Shaoran reset things (and the two timelines come back together as one), Yuuko and Clow themselves will pay the prices to give TRC's clone Shaoran and clone Sakura a choice to continue existing with each other, when they wouldn't have otherwise been able to.

I think. Someone correct me if I got details wrong in that.

Reading CCS won't give you much insight to Tsubasa. Aside from the names, hearts, and faces, the characters aren't exactly the same.
Ex: Syaoran was rude in CCS, meanwhile he is well-mannered in Tsubasa.

I stand by my theory that Nanase Ohkawa has just been making stuff up as she goes.

We still don't know how closely related CCS!Sakura and TRC!Sakura are.

If you haven't read CHAPTER 224 don't continue
Spoiler (highlight to view)
Based on chapter 224 (which was just release today [bless the scanlators]), I'd say they aren't actually blood related.

Which would mean that xxxHolic isn't happening in the same world as CCS which I took for dogma -_-'' (when will I ever learn?).

To be honest, while the recent chapters are meant to explain the back story, I only find myself more confused than before.

Anyway. So, R!Syaoran is the son of other-world-Japan!Syaoran, who was molded (I don't think I want to know how that happened) after the C!Syaoran. Thus creating one of the most confusing never ending circles EVER.

As for "Sakura", we have:
- CCS!Sakura popping up randomly
- Other-world-Japan!Sakura who is R!Syaoran's mother
- Real-Clow-Princess!Sakura who R! Syaoran was trying to save
- Clone-Clow-Princess!Sakura who magically turns into petals

I hope that helps.

Yeah, I posted that before 223 or 224 were released, so they do appear to be unrelated to CCS, just 'based on', like all of the other versions of people they met in other worlds.
