I'm looking for manga that are unique and have interesting themes...

Not too dark, but not too flashy either(like naruto/bleach/op)

Something unique, preferably along the lines of Tegami Bachi, or Onani Master Kurosawa

I remember someone saying "you have to dig deep for the real gems"...

Well. I have dug, but i want to see if i missed any.

Less cliches = better.

Normally I would basically shove Asano Inio, Toume Kei, and Igarashi Daisuke down your throat here (pardon the shameless plugs) but it sounds like you want something a little more lighthearted, or at least less overtly contemplative.

Instead, I suppose I'll just settle with the Yotsubato! + Mushishi + Tekkon Kinkreet route.

NightSwan also said that she wanted to peg me, once, but I'm not sure whether to take that as a compliment or a threat...

Fairy cube - if you're not scared of Yuki Kaori's works, that is. I don't mean it as a scary/horror manga, but it's Kori-sensei's work after all, and its primary feature is uniqueness.

The scanlated one-shot from Fushigi na Shounen

Taiyou no Ichiwaru - interesting short stories

"Bungaku Shoujo" to Shi ni Tagari no Douke - definitely unique and interesting. It's a very good adaptation (has potential to be better than the original light novel). But I think you need to be patient to wait for scanlated releases.

Miyama Uguisu Yashika Jiken - interesting one-shot

I would definatly give Hand x Red a go. I put it with Tegami Bachi, not because of the similar story, but because it has a unique story. So far it has been very good, a beutiful interesting stroy and wonderful art.
